Plantation Barbados Grande Reserve

Bought at a duty free in Barbados, decent flavor, well priced

Propably the best at this pricepoint, awesome for mixing and easy to sip. fruity, oaky and caramel notes.

Good rum very flavoured. Not my type but nevertheless excellent neat or mixed with juice. It is an excellent choice if you don't have enough money to buy Plantation X.O 20 anniversary. Maybe I have a Dobermann 'spalate but if you hide my eyes I won't identify which one is Grande Reserve which one is X.O anniversary. And considering that Grande Reserve is 2 times cheaper...

Ako sipper je to dost fajn. Zaroven nieje tazky na zaludok, takze kludne sipper na cely vecer. Aroma je mierne alkoholova ale ked sa necha otvorit, tak sa velmi zjemni.
Chut je trochu ostrejsia ako by som podla aromi ocakaval ale to na pomale sippovanie vobec nevadi. Za tu cenu (20-25) celkom solidny kusok, nieje extra sladky ani uplne suchy. Pre mna osobne je to taka vstupna brana do menej sladkych rumov.
V chuti je citit aj sudovost a na chvoste sa mi zda ako by bola whisky.
Takych 6.5 ak zohladnim cenu tak 7 ale z fusakiel ma to nevystreli

Plantation Barbados 5Y považujem za mimoriadne vydarený rum v kategórii 20€. Preto som chcel vyskúšať aj o level nižšie posadený Barbados Grande Reserva, ktorý zrel o čosi kratšie. Podarilo sa mi kúpiť lacnejšiu 0,5 l plastovú ploskačku (viď foto), normálne sa predáva v rovnakej opletanej fľaši ako drahší súrodenec, len s mierne odlišnou etiketou. Farba je dosť svetlá, vôňa menej výrazná, svieža a ovocná, s alkoholovým pozadím. Chuťovo ide o sladší rum, s dominanciou medu, vanilky, karamelu a sladkého šťavnatého ovocia. Koniec je trochu krátky, s čím sa ale vzhľadom k dobe zrenia počíta. Ničím výnimočný, no na bežný deň postačuje, porovnateľný s domácimi rumami typu Heffron a Professore. S drahším bráchom sa ale porovnávať nedá, subjektívny rating silná 6-ka.

For 17 euros, it is a decent rum in its price category. The bottle has a nice simple design and looks good on a display. You can drink it neat or use as a mixer. Rum for common occasions, not anything special. I expected a bit more, but it was an okay rum.

Barbados and rum can be a thing of beauty in its most pure form, but tamper just a bit with it and you can have a mess on your hands. Plantation almost gets into hot water with this one, but saves it in the nick of time.

Nose: Ripe banana, baking spices, orange zest, vanilla and coconut
Taste: Ripe banana, chocolate, coconut, vanilla and almonds
Overall: This is not a special rum, but it can serve a good purpose. It tastes just fint and is not overly sweet or dry. If you have found a liking to the sweeter rums, but want to try something a bit more dry without goint to far, then this might be the rum for you

Аромат - лёгкий, коньячно-фруктовый, с примесью сахарного тростника, мягкий, но не выдающийся. Вкус тоже с коньячными (всё же это фишка Plantation - довыдержка в коньячных бочках - и лично я не сказал бы, что мне она нравится, хоть я и люблю коньяк), фруктовыми и древесными нотками, но резковат и сильно чувствуется спиртяга, которая остаётся в послевкусии.

Aroma is light, cognac-like and fruity with some sugarcane notes, smooth, but nothing special. Taste is also cognac-like (well, it's a special feature of Plantation - additional ageing in cogniac casks - and I can't say I like it very much, although I like "real" cognac), fruity and oaky tones, but it's rather harsh, spirit presence is high and stays in aftertaste.

Trochu ostrý ale zároveň příjemně sladký.
S pantation Plantation XO 20th Anniversary (taktéž Barbados) se to ale nedá srovnat, což je samozřejmě jasné, jak cena, tak chuť...
