Twenty Boat Amber rum, a double pot-distilled, molasses- and cane juice-based rum that’s proofed down to 115 after distillation and aged in used Chardonnay and used whiskey barrels for two to three-and-a-half years. The aged rums are blended (the Chardonnay barrel aged rums make up a larger portion of the blend) and bottled at 84 proof.

Like a dry sherry.

Very easy to sip this rum as you would a good, dry sherry. It's been aged for just one year and so there is very little oak presence, allowing room for more of the nuttiness and vanilla to surface. Their website touts that, "The final blends are accomplished with the deft touch of a winemaker" which points to this rum's one flaw: it needs more ruminess (yes, that's a word), and less influence from the grape guys. Still, a worthy first effort.
