Love this one in a lot of tiki drinks, as a sipper it's also pretty good.
Strong demerara rum and excellent mixer. While this rum is decent neat, its price point makes it a great mixer for quality cocktails. It has a delightfully sweet and full bodied flavor that does not linger very long. Well balanced and not overpowering flavor.
A cheaper option to the ED12. Still has a strong molasses flavour, with a little char from the barrel. I buy this all the time.
Mir ist dieser Rum zu „scharf“, besonders im Hals. Er hat eine angenehme Nase ist aber zum trinken eher durchschnittlich.
I'm not a sipper. Mix it with coke and twist of lime. El Dorado 5 is great. 8 is even better. Haven't tried the others like 12. Almost afraid too. El Dorado 8 is so perfect, why spoil it?

Une belle entrée en matière avec les rhums de Demerara ! Nez typique, bouche puissante, aussi bon pur qu’en cocktails !
Nice rum it’s smooth with good aroma. I prefer it more than the Appleton Estate.
El Dorado 8-years was my first Demerara Rum. And for the price (24€), this rum presents already a nice quality. I think a 7 suits perfect, and is recommendable for most, as a sipping or cocktails mixing rum.
Caramel and Molasses flavour, brings a lot of oak too. Rich.
Medium-bodied, good balance, sweet caramel aftertaste.
Looking forward to try the 12 and 15-Years, and for sure more Guyana Rums.
Kvalitni rum za dobrou cenu...na bezne popijeni znacka ideal
This is solid stuff, perfect for mixing and making exceptional cocktails. In some ways it's actually better than the 12, less added sugar, more complex. Unfortunately it's just way too expensive in Australia.
It’s floral, there are notes of dark chocolate and dried fruits.
"It isn’t rough but it does have quite a spicy burn and finish. ."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I love both sweet and dry rums and have been searching for a rum that has a good balance of the two. El Dorado 8 is the closest thing I've found so far and I'm impressed with the quality and great value of this rum. It has a lot of the same flavors as the 15 year but without being too sweet and syrupy, then it's got some tobacco and tea like flavors of its own. It's excellent try it! Update: great value rum that has the classic funk of what I now understand as Demerara style, much like Pusser's blue label. I think this is better than Pusser's as it seems smoother with great buttery toffee flavor. Update 3: still good, a little less smooth than I recall. Excelllent mixed w ginger ale.
