After having great success with the El Dorado 12 year, I figured I would try another from the same brand at a lower price point. Although I am new to rum, I can still notice a difference. Not as good as the 12 year, which makes sense since it's cheaper. Glad I tried it, will buy again for sure, but not necessarily a staple for my collection.

Un rhum à l'excellent rapport qualité prix.
Se rapproche d'un rhum agricole antillais

I love drinking this rum on the rocks. It has a delightful taste and has much of the fruity complexity of the 12 and 15 but simply not that sweet. It is a great day to day sipper because of the hearty flavour and the friendly price. Obviously it is fantastic in mixed drinks as well, particularly fond of it in a Rum Manhattan with Lillet Rose and orange bitters.

Jak za tę cenę na prawdę poprawny rum. Fajny ciemnawy kolor. Lekko słodki, troszkę ostry, czuć melasę, lekko wyczuwalna kawa... trzeba docenić cena/jakość.

Works very well as a sipper. Fruity flavours, cinnamon, cardamom and a little bit of earthy notes. Very flavourful and quite fruity on the nose. I could easily sip this neat or on the rocks.

The 8 year is almost on par with Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva, yet not quite as sweet and figgy flavored. A truly versatile demerara, this adds great punch and flavor to cocktails and is fine for sipping. No harsh alcoholic burn or lingering effects, this one likes to linger just enough to be enjoyed for its attributes.

I was surprised by this El Dorado, it's quite smooth and has no afterburner, you can sip and enjoy it. I don't think it's better than the 12 year.

Smooth with a bit of a spicy bite. One of my favourite taste. My wife doesn't prefer rum, but she likes this.

This is where I call quits on the El Dorado. Anything after this is to sweet and has a coffee type taste. Plus the price doesn't justify.
I drink all rum neat. Good or bad so none of my ratings are based on any type of"mixability".
The 8 year is a great chugging rum. I hit this from the bottle. Don't waste your time with a glass.

For the money, you can’t complain. After initial bite comes tasty sweet flavour I wouldn’t say it’s smooth but definitely not bad, not bad at all. Bargain sipper and excellent mixing rum.
