Botucal Reserva Exclusiva

In the field under 40€ one of the best, rich and complex, sweet and tasty.

That was my very first impression: very sweet. I believe there is more sweet rums out there, but my impression is built on my poor experience.
I sence banana in smell, which could be just a mix of other flavors. Vanilla and wooden taste is also very present.
After all, this rum will be a part of my bar.

It's a dark and quite sweet rum made to please the palates of beginners and rum lovers alike. I can imagine that this ron may serve as a good introduction for those, who are used to drink Cuba libre and want to try a sipping rum for their first time. But also for the seasoned rum drinker it can serve as a pleasant change if you're in the mood for a sweeter rum, that isn't spiced but still has a nice full aroma and color of an aged molasses rum. However, for some it may be a bit too sweet and maybe not too complex in aroma.
Altogether Botucal Reserva Exclusiva it's a nice dark ron with sweet taste and pleasant aroma, nice and easy to drink neat.

Neat: nose is molasses/vanilla. No burn. Aromatic taste as weird as that sounds. Definite chocolate notes. Vanilla. Definitely grows on you. Worth having in your collection.

Stewed fruits with plums and mature raisins. Cloves, cinnamon, chocolate and leather. Somehow very sweet (brown sugar), but also salty. For me also hints of wet and cold earth. Good starting point, but not end of the line, taste gets weak quickly. Maybe more strength than 40 Vol.% only?

Great sipping rum with a great balance of sweetness. Value for many is astonishing.

Straight up on the rocks or with a splash of water. Very nice sipping rum.

It is absolutely pleasant and orgasmical the moment it touches your tongue receptors. It's smooth, perfectly balanced and by my opinion the best rum in this price bracket.
And yes, you can drink it all night, no regrets and it won't ruin your budget (;
