Don't sip it. Mix it ! Best in a mix. For sipping go for the 12 years at least !!

Basically a lightly aged gold rum, without any big flaws, but it lacks most of the character that makes the older EDs so notable. It definitely works well as a mixer, but kind of doesn't really hold any notable place on the bar. ED3 is a great white, and if you move older in the range you get the complexity. The 5-year is just kinda... there. Probably worth spending the extra for the 8 or 12 year, even if you only plan on using them for mixing.

Had couple of shots and in raspberry mojito in restaurant. Demerara signature in aroma and taste. A bit sweet. 6

Bought this for mixing, as several recipes called for using a Demerara rum in the mix. Very middle of the road for me. Drinkable, but there are cheaper rums that I prefer to this. Maybe the older versions are the way to go for El Dorado, but the 5 year probably won't be back on my shelf.

Go to everyday sort of rum. With a bit of mix it’s a great and affordable rum.

Très bien pour le prix. Nez sur le caramel. Assez léger et facile a boire. Sur des arômes de chocolat et caramel.

Fairly sweet, smooth and delicious. The smell isn't that great but the taste is! It's very comparable to Diplomatico Mantuano in both price and quality. It's not a particularly complex rum but it's still totally solid and is extremely versatile. I highly recommend it and for $30, you can't go wrong!

Great complex taste with flavours of vanilla and caramel. Can really smell the vanilla on the nose. Only thing is the added sugar.

Yeah, it's sweet and molasses-y as you expect a Demerara rum to be, but beyond using it to mix drinks that call for it, that's really all you can use it for. I'd hardly call it a must-have for every bar, especially since there are other English-style rums that are a bit more versatile at the same price point.

Good as first rum and is my go-to for cocktails. On its own, it is smooth and easy to enjoy.
