A touch hot, but there is a bit of that El D nuance.

When buying rum from Guyana you expect that sweet dark molasses Demerara taste, which this just does not have.
Nose: Not much except alcohol.
Body: Non existent. A little harsh but nothing you wouldn't expect at this price point.
Taste: Little sweet at the start but very boring. Has almost the least amount of aftertaste of any rum I have reviewed.
If you want a rich Demerara at this price point then I would recommend Lemon Hart (also not affiliated) over this any day for any purpose.

Den her er efter min mening ikke en rom, som gør sig som sipperom. Den er sikkert meget god i cocktails.

a good rum for cooking with or maybe mixing with dark pop

El Dorado 5 year is a far cry from the much better 12 year. If you get a 5 year El Dorado, mix it with Coke or Ginger Ale, since it is vile as a neat sipper. Best memory is from the Demerara Distilleries between Georgetown and Cheddi Jagan Airport in Guyana when I visited their rum distillery and enjoyed their entire line up in its own surroundings.

A rum can be good or bad in the mouth of the taster, but it is almost worse, when a rum is boring. Unfortunately this is something, that can be said about this rum.
Nose: Oak, burned suger and caramel
Taste: A small hint of spiced wood mixed with caramel and burned sugar
Overall: This is just a boring rum. There is no character, and there is nothing else to say about it.

Its flavor is not terrible, but overall its rather harsh straight and even on ice. I don't mix rum but perhaps that is what this is primarily for.
It has a sweet almost fruity taste. .
"It’s tasty and fruity. There’s an overall taste a bit like the smell of floral gums."

But not a touch on the 12yr 5 out of 10

Nice rum, but not a touch on the 12 year and unfortunately there are better rums for the price. It tastes rather watered down straight, but retains a little character in cocktails where I think this one will certainly shine.
