That dumb grab when you just want some rum.
Cheap. Cheerful. Well decent.

I like the 5-year, however, the $44 price point makes it not worth purchasing over the far superiors. 12-year, which costs $3 more. It's an easy purchase if it's the only affordable aged rum available.

I was expecting more from this rum, ED has a reputation for sweet (sugared) rums that while somewhat muted are otherwise nice to drink. Oddly this has very little sweetness and that makes it rougher and harsher in the finish. I think the 8 year is probably the better value / mixer rum. This rum is decent, cheap but ultimately a little dull.

Nothing special, but quite drinkable for 5-year version. Would rather pay little more for 12-Years one.

I thought I'd like this a lot more since I like the other El Dorado offerings. It's got a nice nose but I found the taste to be just okay.
Color: Golden
Nose: I get tropical fruit and molasses
Taste: Caramel and fruit

It is good neat, not sophisticated , but worth the money
Aged for at least 5 years in bourbon barrels, with notes of dried tropical fruits, caramel, and towards the end we discover aromas of dry coconut and vanilla
Excellent for cocktails

Excellent mixer. Decent sipper, but not exceptional. This is a darn good price/taste value which I find a better buy until you go with the 21 Yr. El dorado. Very pleasant, indeed.
