Appleton Estate 12-Year Rum is a blend of several rums aged between 12 and 18 years in American oak barrels after being distilled using small-batch copper pot stills.
The rum is produced on the Appleton Estate, which sits in the Nassau Valley in Jamaica. The estate’s origins date back as far as 1655 when the English overthrew the Spanish to rule the island and Frances Dickinson, grandfather of the distillery’s founders, received the land as a reward for his role in the overthrow.

I wouldn't mind beeing served one of these but I will never choose this one over another rum sometime soon. It's an OK rum, but there is nothing exciting or characteristic about it unfortunately.
I’m much more of a spiced rum guy but can see the reasons this is a popular one
Rich, creamy, molasses, biscuity.

Pleasant rum but not exceptional.
not particularly sweet, rather dry,
not full-bodied, not particularly aromatic.
but still a pleasure to drink
While I recognize this is a solid run, I don’t care for the flavor profile. It’s a little chemically or medicinal finish to me. It may be the Jamaican style I don’t care for. It reminds me a little of the way a peaty scotch finished. I prefer bourbon and American / Canadian whiskey to peaty scotch, so that probably explains it. It’s not the age either I don’t think since I prefer the El Dorado 12 to the 15 or 21.
Мягкий, но не очень приятный вкус. Запах хорош. Я его точно больше не куплю
good rum but does not stand out among others I have tried.
It is perhaps on the same level as Flor de Cana 12, maybe slightly more complex and sweeter, although i am aware this contains no added sugar.
It is citrusey and oaky on the palate and i have nothing against that. Resembles fine whiskey.

The rum has a slight orange or woody taste and is somewhat rough, it doesn't go down smoothly. It is nice to mix with ginger beer but the taste on its own is not very pleasant. For the price that it retails at, I would rather buy another rum for the same price but that has a more pleasant taste.
A bit overrated. Not as smooth as alleged.
Honig, trockenobst, schoko, trockene eiche und muskat.

The rum offers a lot of smoky spiced oak flavour.
"A nice note of cocoa and a little hint of vanilla. The rum is smooth yet spicy offering a nice kick. The finish is long and complex leaving a lot of flavour behind to savour."

Very good, but not great.

Bold and warm in the mouth, but lacks a smoothness you might expect at the price point. Hints of cocoa, vanilla and even oak, but the warmth never really transitions to smooth.
