Appleton Estate 12-Year Rum is a blend of several rums aged between 12 and 18 years in American oak barrels after being distilled using small-batch copper pot stills.
The rum is produced on the Appleton Estate, which sits in the Nassau Valley in Jamaica. The estate’s origins date back as far as 1655 when the English overthrew the Spanish to rule the island and Frances Dickinson, grandfather of the distillery’s founders, received the land as a reward for his role in the overthrow.
It's classic fruity Jamaica with more spice, wood and long warm aftertaste. Excellent mixer and nice sipper.
Good solid rum. Smooth. Not spicy or sweet. Their older aged rums are better
Got this for an Xmas pressie and I savored every drop
Kdo miluje Jamajku, bude spokojen, mně moc neleze, jsem na sladší
Good, strong taste and a little bite in the end. Love a good glass of this one on a cold night (or just any night for that matter).
Searched for this after glowing reviews but this is a disapointment. Chemical and tastes only of alcohol. Maybe a bad batch but an expensive mistake. Always try before you buy
Nice smell, with caramel hints. Tasting good. Reccomend
This is always my go to rum if I can find a restaurant or bar that serves it. Beautiful dark golden color perfect blend of heat and smoothness. Great neat, on-the rocks or mixed.
Pleasant fruity notes in the aroma and chocolate aftertaste.
Not too sweet or strong, don’t let the smell fool you. Let it breath for a couple of minutes and then try. It has a very interesting mix between older and younger rums (this rum is a blend). Definitely worth trying!
Not a sipping rum, too harsh for me. But works very well for drinks.
Expected fuller creamy flavour
Very brandy like hard no softness, lack of sweetness
This rum was one I was really excited to get my hands on and I was not disappointed. It was definitely spicier and more spiky than the other rums I've had, but I loved it. Its a challenging rum with notes of Christmas spices, not for everyone, but perfect for me.
not that amazing neat but a high end ingredient for mixing tiki drinks, pretty good in a mai tai especially with clement vsop. a bit too much burnt sugar/fruit flavor for my taste.
Appleton makes two different 12 year blends that l am aware is. This one is not sold in Ontario, Canada, but a friend brought me this back from a trip. Very nice Jamaican style rum for sipping.
Chutove hodne silny, stipe na jazyku. Prijemna chut bez nezadoucich slozek. Velice suchy rum.
Mindre sötman utifrån Jamaicas regelverk som gör den lite mindre bra än den kunnat vara, fungerar fint att dricka bar men inte inom de 10 i topp för mig.
Blend of column & pot still Rums up to 18 years of age...Smooth, fruity, cognac-like.
I was introduced to this Rum many years ago while in Jamaica. I found it to be a definite upgrade from the Special Gold. The smoothness of the finish and rich flavor made this the go-to Rum for me for many years.
Interesting nose with just a bit of a bite at the back end. Not a sipper for me, a bit dry with that bite coming through. Mixed with cola it was very good, full body with a lot of different flavors coming through. Not quite as good with citrus but still
This is not a favorite but will keep it around for a change of pace...
The quintessential, solid go-to sipping rum from Ja.
Great rum from one of the big names. Very decent for the price range, good flavour and quite sweet. I enjoyed it on ice.
I dont like bottle, but rum is very good, little bit stronger, not sweet and not flavoured.
Eminently drinkable with a decent ginger ale/ ginger beer...
Pero me parece basto para un ron que lleva madurando 12 años, por otro lado tiene bastante sabor, principal problema que le encuentro es que no parece que haya madurado lo suficiente, mejor el de 15.
