Appleton Estate Extra 12-Year rum

Appleton Estate Extra 12-Year

Jamaica | Aged | 43% ABV

Appleton Estate 12-Year Rum is a blend of several rums aged between 12 and 18 years in American oak barrels after being distilled using small-batch copper pot stills.

The rum is produced on the Appleton Estate, which sits in the Nassau Valley in Jamaica. The estate’s origins date back as far as 1655 when the English overthrew the Spanish to rule the island and Frances Dickinson, grandfather of the distillery’s founders, received the land as a reward for his role in the overthrow.

Not as nice as expected, lots of contradictions. The more I drink it, the less I like it. The smell is interesting but not really nice, the taste too is intereseting but far to strong alcohol taste. Can't believe it is a 12yo. Would not buy it again for sure. Its so strong I think my car could use it if I run out of fuel.

Excellent if you like your Jamaican rum extra dry, I couldn't handle it even though I have tried other Jamaican rums still this still a fantastic choice, I won't rate it bad because just I don't like it instead I will rate it as a good quality rum.

This is one of the few rums that I can qualify "versatile"
Good on the rocks
Neat
Rum and coke
Basic cocktails
Classy cocktails
It deserves its 9/10 because it's affordable

Nose: Lot of oak spice to nose, allspice, cinnamon, clove and oak vanillin, sweet orange, not much hogo at all.
Palate: lots of abovementioned spices and oak and vanillin, fruitiness gets bit more pronounced with tasting, grapes and sort of caramelized orange, still not much hogo, very gentle amount underneath the flavor profile.
Finish: Oak and vanillin turns to dry and bit sour aftertaste, has a nice spicy alcohol kick which means this rum has probably not been dosed at all as is the goverment rule in Jamaica when making rum.
Overall, Okay enough aged jamaican, not much more. Is quite bland compared to what is available but if you are into mellow dry rums, then this is maybe good enough.

This is pretty darn good. Lots of oak and some vanilla. Several notes swirling in the background. Complex but balanced. A little bite. A little rough around the edges which I say as 100% compliment. Great to sip. Equally good neat or on ice. Great finish too. Beats the daylights out of many sweeter rums that cost 3x as much.

Seems to lack the good finish most other high end rums have. A bit of an aftertaste.

A very enjoyable rum. Can be enjoyed on it's own or with your favorite mix. I highly recommend!

With the typical Jamaican esters and balanced craftsmanship, this is one of my go to runs that is always in my bar. Good price point to match the quality. A good sipper neat or on the rocks, and good blender for cocktails such as a good mai tai and navy grog—- buy it and enjoy!

They are all kinda of fruity to me I like rums that are a little more on the oaky and caramel, nutty taste.

My bottle is labeled 12 year rare casks.

Great taste and not too sweet. Bought this to make Mai Tais, but could see myself sipping this regularly.

This is really not my style, harsh, no balance, poor character. Forget it.
