Appleton Estate Extra 12-Year rum

Appleton Estate Extra 12-Year

Jamaica | Aged | 43% ABV

Appleton Estate 12-Year Rum is a blend of several rums aged between 12 and 18 years in American oak barrels after being distilled using small-batch copper pot stills.

The rum is produced on the Appleton Estate, which sits in the Nassau Valley in Jamaica. The estate’s origins date back as far as 1655 when the English overthrew the Spanish to rule the island and Frances Dickinson, grandfather of the distillery’s founders, received the land as a reward for his role in the overthrow.

Dont like the taste profile... not bad objectively but very different taste than most popular rums. 0 sweetnes, some whisky character, little burn & thats all.

Torr rom med tydliga toner av arrak. Väldigt bra för priset.

Great and a lot of flavours, smooth and funky. Exactly how I like a Jamaican rum! Great for mixing too

Appleton is a very popular brand here in Ontario, Canada and some people hate anything that happens to be popular. Not me; I just want to drink what I like....and I really like this rum. I find it quite versatile if somewhat tricksy.

Nose: plenty oranges and orange zest, cherries, oak, vanilla, tobacco, and a little overripe banana
Palate: drier than you might expect from the aromas, strong oak presence, brown sugar, a bit more orange, bananas
Finish: medium length, molasses, coffee, oak spices (cinnamon, cloves)

This is no one-trick pony. It's complex enough to sip neat, and it works a treat in a rum Old Fashioned.

Ripe fruit, rich chocolate, molasses and more, I also use this in sponge cakes.

Möjligtvis en toppenrom för dem som inte gillar när det blir sött utan vill ha en torr rom. Ingenting för mig alltså.... Jag gillar det sött och gott. Ingen dålig rom men ingen rom jag köper igen när den är slut

Good, but not great. Better mixed than straight or on the rocks.

Ok but nothing special, drinkable average. Older ones are much better

A workhorse rum! This is the staple in pretty much half of my tiki cocktails

Nice balance of oak and caramel, great on its own over an ice cube

It was my first experience with Jamaican rum. This is one of the rums that is easily recognizable. It's just something different than any other rum I've tasted. Rum is quite strong, but still smooth. The strong alcohol taste reminds me of pear brandy. Interesting rum, not for everyone. Definitely worth a try if you like fruit spirits.
