Appleton Estate 12-Year Rum is a blend of several rums aged between 12 and 18 years in American oak barrels after being distilled using small-batch copper pot stills.
The rum is produced on the Appleton Estate, which sits in the Nassau Valley in Jamaica. The estate’s origins date back as far as 1655 when the English overthrew the Spanish to rule the island and Frances Dickinson, grandfather of the distillery’s founders, received the land as a reward for his role in the overthrow.

molasses, orange peel, caramelized bananas, and brown sugar. There's a slightly burnt wood aroma as well.
Appleton Rum is OK at the best of times. The 12 year old does hold a smoother taste than the regular bottles. Colour is attractive and can be enjoyed on the rocks but there are much better options such as El Dorado 12.
Too much alcohol on the nose, it's overwhelming and makes it hard to find other aromas. It's somewhere between whiskey and rum actually. Starts fruity and sweet with some oak and ends with hints of smoke and alcohol. Tried it with some stevia coke, not the best rum to mix with coke.
Jamaican rum isn't my favorite kind of rum but I did enjoy it.
Slight woodsy nose, but few distinct notes carry through. initial taste is not sweet or dry, just right in the middle. Long, spicy finish - but a nice spicy that isn't overwhelming or too harsh.
In general, I wanted a little more character for a 10+ aged rum. The woodsy oak with a hint of molasses is balanced, but needs something extra to make a very good rum.
I honeymooned in Jamaica and this was the bottle they were pushing on tourists, even offering shots straight up in the street. Someone below commented on the flavor notes and I believe they are spot on. Brown sugar, charred oak, and a hot finish. For the price, I'd pick up a bottle of Zaya or Zacapa instead.
Not that what i a expected. ...............for 12 yers old.
Nose: Quite soft. Light toffee that acts as a harbinger for a more distinct yet still soft acetone. The funk easily gives way to strawberry skins, dried mango, and baked bananas - interlaced by brief hints of earthiness. Mint chocolate. Turmeric and cardamom show up near the end.
Palate: Still delicate, beginning with honey and cacao. Dried figs leads a transition to coconut husk and chocolate rocks before a more refreshing layer of ginger ale and the strawberries and mangos from the nose. Bubbly mouthfeel with a medium body.
Finish: A very pleasant burst of singed wood, dark chocolate, and dried blueberries. The finish rarely surprises me, yet this one does.
Had the chance to visit the Appleton’s distillery and sample several of their offerings. I enjoyed the 12, very smooth, and yet the flavor profile is closer to your typical mixer. I enjoyed it, but wouldn’t wait in line for seconds.

The rum offers a lot of smoky spiced oak flavour.
"A nice note of cocoa and a little hint of vanilla. The rum is smooth yet spicy offering a nice kick. The finish is long and complex leaving a lot of flavour behind to savour."

They are all kinda of fruity to me I like rums that are a little more on the oaky and caramel, nutty taste.
