Appleton Estate 12-Year Rum is a blend of several rums aged between 12 and 18 years in American oak barrels after being distilled using small-batch copper pot stills.
The rum is produced on the Appleton Estate, which sits in the Nassau Valley in Jamaica. The estate’s origins date back as far as 1655 when the English overthrew the Spanish to rule the island and Frances Dickinson, grandfather of the distillery’s founders, received the land as a reward for his role in the overthrow.

I enjoy mixing this with another aged rum for a good traditional Mai Tai.
My favourite rum on a daily basis. Smooth flavoured with a nice taste of caramel
very nice tasting a little strong after taste I order this if they have it a the bars over Bacardi silver
Being want to try this one for awhile
got for Christmas gift really enjoyed
and it is such a easy sipper careful
with this one.
Nose: first to hit your nose is some rather smooth alcohol. Has a lot of sweetness to it, probably molasses and caramel and maybe and some vanilla. Smells oaky and citrusy at the end. Smell is gone pretty quickly.
Taste: sweet, but rather subtle, when it first hits your tongue. Develops into something herbal and spicy, might be some vanilla here. Can’t really identify what’s going on to be fair but definitely very pleasant to sip. Also, oak can be identified.
Finish: first it turns into a slight burn, then a bigger burn and when the burn burns out it turns into a pleasantly lingering sweetness with some spiciness going on.
Final: this is absolutely one the best rums I’ve ever had, without even considering it’s absurdly low price class. It is a very premium sipper and offers quite the complexity and taste to both experienced and unexperienced rum drinkers. Because it’s such a great sipper I kinda feel bad for mixing this, but whenever I taste this mixed drink I instantly remember why I mix this… holy damn this can be used to make some amazing cocktais (absolutely superb Mai Tai WOW!).
Notes: added 3 drops of water and it's been sitting around in the glass for about 10 minutes. Also, I'm an inexpercienced taster so the details might be inaccurate, but it's still really enjoyable for my still-developing palate.
...az Appleton estate V/X megkóstolása után keserű szájízzel nyitottam ki a 12 évest , hogy vajon mit kapok ..de bejött :) illatában fás ,aszalt gyümölcsös, vaniliás , édes ---olyan klasszikus rum illat---lecsengése viszont enyhén kesernyés, közepesen hosszú ,határozott az alkohol jelenléte a torokban .
Harsh start, but rewarded with the fantastic smell of wallnuts, intriguing taste of orange peel and mace. And the amazing, deep colour! Really good sipper
I was surprised how god this is looping at the price range it is in.
At the first sip it seems very strong but that fades away in the mouth.
This rum has a very nice and long aftertaste in the mouth and troath with notes of oak, caramel, banana and a lot of other notes.
After a couple of sips you find out how smooth this rum actualy is when you roll it around in your mouth.
It's very well blended and it's almost it each sip reveals more notes in this rum.

The rum offers a lot of smoky spiced oak flavour.
"A nice note of cocoa and a little hint of vanilla. The rum is smooth yet spicy offering a nice kick. The finish is long and complex leaving a lot of flavour behind to savour."

I'd give this 8.5 not a 9

I'd give this an 8.5, it is not a sweet rum but it is complex. Let it breathe and you will notice it is complex drink. This is a dry rum and best appreciated
Sipped slowly doing this you will notice the other flavours, give it time and it will soon become a favourite of yours.
The bottle screw top could be changed to a cork for that cork pop.
