A more refined, mellow and complex version of the 12 and 15 combined sans the smokiness from the 15. Mixed fruits and spicy oak, dark chocolate, vanilla, coffee and a long fruity finish. Unfortunately, as with the 12 and 15 is has sugar added, and lots of it.... I hope DDL changes that and stop adding sweetener to their rums! not counting in the special cask varieties here because they are pure rums and the best DDL have made in the El Dorado range in my opinion.

It is really good but honestly not that much better than the 12 year.

Title says it all. Not as sweet as its 15 year old younger brother - and that's no bad thing! Absolutely amazing rum!

Best rum I've tried so far. Not cheap and I keep it reserved for special occasions and special people.

WOW- I have tried the 12 year old El Dorado in the past, but this is on another level, quite simply the smoothest rum i have ever tasted, not at all overly sweet, amazing aroma and a burst of flavour before sliding effortlessly down the gullet with no appreciable alcohol burn before warming the stomach, lovely stuff.

Absolutely disappointing, I found that the 21-year-old which is easily twice the price of the 12-year-old is simply no worth it. It just ok in my books, the 12 is better. So sad, I was expecting to fall out of my chair. Nope, not worth it.

I ordered an El Dorado 15 at a bar once, but they didn't have it. I bought few drinks before (plus tipped them for great service) and they "treated" me to it, for 15's price. I was a little tipsy already, but i remember the taste; sweet, like honey and caramel, with a slightly numbing aftertaste. To be honest, if the waitress hadn't explained all of that to me in detail, i would think it was the 15 that i was drinking. I know the specifics about this distillery, the tradition and old technology used, but their rums are too sweet, too mild and according to my humble opinion, too overpriced, as well. Seems to be ideal for a dessert though, but for that purpose, i would certainly prefer Dictador Insolent XO much better. Decent choice, still. Rum drinkers with a sweet tooth for sweet rum, just add 2 points to my score. Still, not a top shelf ace, in my cabinet.

i see high ratings on this one but i found it have 22 grams of sugar per liter added and also on the label 43% ABV declared but just 37,5% measured, do i need to write more ?

8.75/10, this is a phenomenal offering that I've only been able to try at bars, bottles have eluded me but I would definitely buy one if found. It's oaky and so very smooth and easy sipping, I usually lean towards cask strength stuff but this certainly isn't bad!
