El Dorado 21 is produced near the equator in Guyana by Demerara distillery. The final product is a blend of rums, aged between 21 and 25 years and crafted using 100% locally sourced Demerara sugar. Traditional tools are used in the distilling processes including three unique wooden stills. The rums rest until maturity in 45 gallon oak casks.

This Rum is amazing!! Has a slight funk smell similar to Jamaica Rums, but far exceeds all other rums. Starts with your typical vanilla hints, then transitions to a tobacco/raisin, and finishes with chocolate notes. Absolutely amazing!! Must try.
Forget the rest this is the best. Hard to believe I had this rum in Barbados where Mount Gay is King but El Dorado is served at the better bars as their #1. Again was at a resort in Barbados and the bartender gave me a rum tour, needless to say the tour ended with this 21 year old. Great for sipping and relaxing. A bit out of my price range......actually more than a bit.
Tried this rum recently and it is one of the few that can match the original zacapa 23

Un rhum très cher mais il est vraiment complexe et mérite sa dégustation. Un goût puissant et corsé avec des notes de miel, de fruit de chêne et sucre brun.

Superb, I like this rum the best of the the 12, 15 and 21. The thing that puts it in front of the 12 and 15 is the smoky finish and slightly drier body. I love cigars and this rum with a nice cigar is a match made in heaven. A very smooth and very well made rum. The only downside is the price.

A truly great rum. So many things in it's aromas. I like the "thickness " in it. It is smooth, yet warm, it is dark in color it tastes fruity to me. It is expensive but you have to get a bottle once.

I recently started with sipping rum to go with my cigar smoking. El Dorado 21 was recommended to me by a friend and it was a special order through the Pennsylvania Liquor Control website. I am a somewhat novice but it was so smooth and I thought it had a black cherry flavor. I was so impressed with this rum that I immediately ordered the only remaining bottle in PA.
'spice nose with hints of honey and dark sugar'
"El Dorado 21-Year rum review by The Ultimate RumGuide"
There is an extra layer of oak in the profile.
"Notes of oak and a slight spiciness also comes through. The rum is very smooth and easy drinking but complex enough to ensure you savour each sip of the drink. The finish is long lasting."

Very Good Rum 10 out of 10

Was a long term fan of the 12 yr old, then had the 15 yr old and didn't like it...too woody tasting. Preferred the 12 yr to the 15 yr. Another commenter explained that the 15 yr old is actually made in a different still, "double wooded", etc. It definitely reflects in the taste. Tried the 21 year old, and will have to say, it is hands down the best, as far as my taste is concerned. I keep going back to it. I would rank El Dorado as follows; 21, 12, then 15. For price, get the 12 yr old, for the best, get the 21 yr old.
