Now this is some good stuff
Rum tasting during global lockdown started with Havana Club Union. Very nice wooden case surrounds a beautiful bottle design. Label looks high end. Bright golden color. Vanilla, tobacco leafs and oak to the nose and palate when neat sipped. Surprisingly sweet ending. Strong performance from Havana Club but the ridiculous price is unacceptable.
My brother brought this home for my father’s 80th - absolutely incredible and the hint of tobacco made it incredibly inviting - not overly sweet - an amazing treat
I’m just back from this years rumcruise at the Baltic Sea with Birka cruises. Decided more or less already before the cruise that I should buy me a bottle if I liked it, cause the price is “just” 190€ during the cruise.
Have tasted the Seleccion de Maestros and the 15yo before and liked them, but this is a great step forward. A truly fantastic Ron! Very complex with a nice afterburn. It’s just below my top five shelf.

I was fortunate to bring back a bottle of Havana Club Union from Cuba to Australia. Despite the solid packaging, I was disappointed to find the cork was damaged when I finally got to open the bottle. After decanting the contents, there was no damage done, as a neat shot tasted just as good in Australia as it did at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba in Havana.
Although horrendously expensive compared to most other Cuban rums, I found this rum to be exquisite, particularly when paired with a fine cigar, or even fine quality chocolate.
My only sadness is that this rum is nearly impossible to source in Australia.
This rum is amazing and my favorite! The taste and the Feeling in the mouth..just to think I become tears..yes it is expensive but it is worthy to try it... the experience is so good.
Reading the other comments i'm pretty sure i've got the right one! This.. with a good cigar, with a good friend! Perfect! One of the best rums i drank! Again, i'm no expert so i'll leave the notes and flavours to those who are but if you can ever buy or taste this, do it! Not cheap but sooo worth the money!
Price aside a superb rum very well balanced, smooth and long lasting. I love it with a wonderful cohiba. One of the 2 best rums I ever tasted.
I had a fantastic opportunity to taste 4 different Havana Clubs in Cuba. I have always been a fan of the 7 years old one.
Here is a summary of all the four.
1. Seleccion de Maestros
No too sweet, nice round taste, maybe little alcohol taste. Rum has 45% of alcohol so a small drop of water helps. Lot of fruits and some spice.
2. Anejo 15
More balanced and deeper in flavour than Seleccio de Maestros. Again, this might have something to do with Seleccios higher alcohol level. Flavours like apple, honey and spices.
3. Tributo 2016
A fantastic product, close to perfection. Really looking for the 2017 edition. Blend of rare casks some as old as 80 years H huge and long taste
A collaboration between Havana Club and Chiba Cigars. You could actually say that nose and flavour has some tobacco and smoke in it. Maybe more sweet than other Havana Club products. For me the 2nd best so far.
Still looking for the Maximo, but price of about 1.500€ lets me still wait for it.
