Bought a bottle of Kahakai Tiki Spiced Original Rum while vacationing in San Diego. Very cheap looking bottle and label design. Golden color. Super strong alcohol mixed with light vanilla and plenty of artificial allspice like substance to the nose and palate. Strong burn at the end. Even mixing this one up does not mask the cheap flavor profile. Simply awful and cheap. Stay away from this one.
There's not a nice thing I can say about this. According to the label this concoction is "prepared & bottled by Taboo Tiki Brands, Auburndale, FL". They ought to be ashamed. They claim this is "Polynesian style spiced rum" whatever the heck that is.
There is clearly a mixture of spices in this rum but they all conflict. I seem to taste cloves in it as well as allspice. And there is a major artificial chemical flavor that lingers. Completely and utterly awful.
I have no idea of the origins of this rum, where it was distilled, if it was aged at all, and other information that should be forthcoming. There website is less than forthcoming. More of a marketing campaign rather than information.
