Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still Distilled

El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.

Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

There are better rums. There are cheaper rums. But for the price (<$30), this is the finest rum you can buy. Great starter, delicious sipper. Neat, or on ice. Wonderful. Light taste, slightly sweet, smooth. Delicious aroma. Magnificent nose. There's always a bottle of ED12 in my cupboard.

My failsafe bottle of choice! It is the cheapest one in my cabinet, and I prefer it or regard it as an equal to most of the rest.

I base my reviews on what I previously purchased, this is a nice rum but not so sweet. I would say it scores slightly less than zacapa solero 23 and the average score of 7.6 I'd about where I would put it.

El Dorado 12-year is probably one of the best sipping rums I know. Perfectly balanced with a slight kick and delicious notes. Would recommend this one to anyone.

Can be used as a sipper or in more premium cocktails.

flavors of vanilla and oak, great balance on the notes compared to simular types of rum. Less sugar and more mature flavor than for example, Zacapa Centenario 23

This is my current favorite sipping rum that I always keep on hand. It is sweet, and this is another rum that has sugar added, but the flavors and balance are still so good that I don't mind the extra sweetness. That can be cut with ice as well. Overall this rum is very smooth, has a beautiful warmth and flavor that opens up as you sip it. It has a very caramel forward nose, and subtle citrus accents on the palate, with a long smooth finish - no burn. I have also tried the 15 year and I don't like it as much. There is some after-taste, or underlying flavor I haven't been able to put my finger on in the 15 year that I don't like. I'd rather drink the 12, and for the price-point, this is my favorite rum in my bar.

Top shelf quality - very drinkable neat - particularly smooth with a great balance and medium length. Nice colour too. Would recommend.
