El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including double wooden pot stills and are aged in bourbon oak casks.
Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.
Lots of banana and fruit. Quite sweet, but still a decent sipper.
Of all their aged runs this is my favourite. Sweet, complex and delicious.
Konzentriertes Dörrobst, intensive Süße, gut eingebetteter Alkohol. Würzig, intensiv, leicht herb im Abgang.
Schöne Farbe, angenehme Süße. Weich und vollmundig.Smooth!
When I first got this, I didn't really know much about rum and sipping rums. Rums had always been mixed with cola, or Ginger and most of this bottle went down that way. Oh the shame. It wasn't until the bottle was almost empty that I tried it neat, and it was amazing. Delicate, not much burn, fruity overtones. I need another bottle to better appreciate it.
Good sipping rum. One of the better ones. Aroma is pleasant and it has a very smooth taste and finish.
This rum is sweet with a noticable taste of oranges. Good while sipping slowly!
I really enjoy this rum mixed with Coke. So far it is the best rum I've found for a cuba libre! It creates a nice froth and a sweet, but not too sweet, flavor different than other rum around the same price. For sipping this rum is good if you're looking for a cheap sip rum. Personally I prefer to pay an extra and get a Mount Gay oreven better a Diplomatico Old Reserva!
I find that the 12 year, hasn't smoothed out enough. It still has that rubbing alcohol bit to it. Now the 15 year old is a different story, much nicer.
One of The first Rum I ever tasted, and it is still In my Collection, fine for sipping 😊
Great option neat. sweet finish vs dry that works well as a nightcap. great option for the price.
I expected more form this rum, the rum was ok but I feel my anticipation clouded my judgement
Great stuff. I use for all drinks that ask for an aged demer
Classic dark rum with a cocoa ending. Burns a little. A good sipper. Some say it is too sweet, but I don’t think so. I prefer it on the rocks, because it become more complex and the flavours comes out. Well rounded.
Personally, I generally like much thinner and less sweet Cuban Rum. This rum is the exception. It is thicker and sweeter than I typically enjoy, but it is definitely not cloying. In Canada, Ontario it is a bargain at around $ 43.00.
I have tried the more expensive 15 year old, which tastes more like a Cuban rum, but the subtle under flavors and thickness just don't work for me.
This 12 year old is in a category all by itself.
Good show !
Delicious over a glass of ice at the end of the day. Sweet and spicy with no burn. May be a bit sweet for some.
This rum can go in all the ways. Straight, on the rocks or in a mix. Nice a sweet but a great smell
This isn’t really offensive in any way, apart from perhaps being a bit too sweet. I can’t really taste anything much more than sugar. I’ll drink it, but only if there isn’t anything more compelling on offer.
Min ingång till rom, den är lite väl söt men den kan serveras till alla i sällskapet och blir en bra diskussion för alla parter. Mycket bra doft men mycket av allt med bra avrundning men blir lite för söt i längden.
This is NOT a great example of Demerara. Too much sweetening done - It covers flavours badly. The age statement is hard to believe from taste, no oak present. Just burned molasses, and sugars.
Amazing taste, color and aromas. One staple in my bar for a sipping rum.
Excellent rum, nice honey taste and aroma of rosins. This is one of my favorites rum.
Perfect choice for good money. Prefer drink it straight
This is very good rum, better than diplomatico, better in taste and it is not so commercial.
Absolute perfection for a mai tai...this is my “go to” rum at the core my mai tai.
