Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still Distilled

El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.

Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

Well known classic, I have nothing new to add, strong raisins, oak on the nose, strong and sweet taste of raisins, black currant, pronounced oak and molasses, then strong fruity aftertaste. The rum is robust in smell and taste, yet smooth and easygoing. Although there is quite a lot of sugar added (40g/l), it does not taste as just slightly more matured 8y El Dorado (15g/l) with added more sugar, there is much more balance, complexity and overall yumminess. Everybody's sipper for a fair price. Reedit: One bottle I bought first half of 2021 contained significantly harsher and biting alcohol, asking for score 6, probably a bad batch as a bottle bought half a year later was as good as always,

warm and sophisticated. It did not want to drink a lot, but I want him to never ended.

Very nice and smooth rum. Not too sweet and not to strong. Bottle is more mainstream.

Not as good as the 15 year but that is setting an unfair standard. Still this stands well as a very enjoyable sipper. An added bonus is the price point.

This rum is very good for sipping straight. It's super sweet and smells like caramel.

El Dorado 15 was the first good rum I ever tried and remained my favourite for years. I never sought out the 12 assuming it would be inferior. I was wrong, the 12 has a depth that the banana smash in the 15 kills a little. Absolutely delicious, can't give it a ten because of what else is out there to try but it's amazing.

Nezklamal a neprekvapil. Konzumni lepsi rum.

A very balanced rum, has the smell that instantly bring a smile to your face. The colour and taste do not disappoint. High recommendation.

I have just started to try different rums. Was primarily drinking Appleton 12 year, and really enjoyed. I found this site and investigated different rums, and also affordable. I have just picked up the El Dorado 12 year, and found the Kirk and Sweeney 18 on sale, so bought that as well. I must say, I really enjoyed the El Dorado better. I am not the type of person who can pick out different flavors from a rum. I just know it has a wonderful taste, and was very smooth. I think this will become my new favorite rum
