Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still Distilled

El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.

Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

Really nice. Golden brown colored. Smooth and soft, tastes like honey, brown sugar and some fruit. Even better than it's older brother 15 years old. One of my favorite.
Strongly recommend. Great value

Edit 4/2017:
This was my first "premium" rum (not counting Zaya), first tasted in 2015. It's very tasty, but also extremely sweet. Having tried 50+ rums since then, I have a much better idea of the landscape. I so still agree that it's a fantastic value, an excellent dessert rum, and an fine introduction to the Rumiverse. I'll happily accept a glass if offered, but won't be adding this to my cabinet anytime soon. 7-minus.

El Dorado: PLEASE release an unsweetened edition of this 12-year (or the 15, which I prefer). I would buy it in a heartbeat!

Original 11/2016:
My, but this rum is tasty! Extremely smooth and sweet, yet balanced. One of the best values in rum today. Savor this one, my friends.

first of all i got my bottle for 32$. The sheer quaility of this rum is fantastic for its price and id buy one every time.

super smooth when you first drink it and sweet. doesnt even burn.

well balanced between flavor palettes so nothing is overpowering but i do like the caramel.

This is a great introduction to sipping for your friends & family if they havent had a good sipping rum.

will always have one on my shelfs...

On the sweet side, nice Demerara, hints of vanilla, caramel and fruit.

A nicely balanced rum that is sublimely smooth, my go-to rum in a pinch.

Versatile taste and smell. I do prefer a bit more smooth taste, though.
