Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still Distilled

El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.

Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

Very nice rum, with a natural looking light-brown/orangy colour. On the nose you get a lot of fruit and a sweetness also very subtle hints of chocolate. The taste is quite sweet, light and fruity. It doesn't have a very long finish. It's a good simple supper if you're not feeling like a complex rum and just want to sit and enjoy.

Very nice, little bit sweet but not that much. I really enjoy it.

The focus is on the complexity and not the "BIGNESS". Transforms your experience when you get to the last stage in late palate: mouthfeel is medium and refined. Multifaceted

To me every rum has a prominent theme. Might it be vanilla, smoke, cough syrup, etc.
In this case it is "orange". It is a very smooth liquor and it is easy to understand why so many give this product top ratings.
What I particularly like about it is also the aroma it produces in the glass. Aside from freshly peeled oranges you pick up leather and wood. It is a very pleasing experience. Much better than the "Botucal Grand Reserva" whith an even higher rating.
A very well deserved 8 - happy to have it in my hoard. To see wheter a perfect product can even be made better, I ordered the 15yr old. I will report about it very soon.

The nose front told me that this was going to be a sharper rum with a hard edge on it. Imagine my surprise when it turned out to be smooth and round! A very nice sipper just shy of syrupy sweet with a beautiful color to it.

Without a doubt one of the best rums that £30.00 will get you, an absolute crime if you mixed it, a real sipping pleasure. The taste is sweet spice with hints of fruit and caramel. You then get a mild to medium warmth from the alcohol as you swallow. When drank neat the flavors are intense and its quite smooth and easy to drink especially if you have a sweet tooth. Ice can dilute the flavour i found so drinking it neat for me is the way to go. The only downside is you have to show restraint as you could easily drink half the bottle in a evening.

A clean and rich aftertaste mixed with a good amount of oaky flavor.

En ok rom i en flot flaske. Den bliver bedre efter et stykke tid og er ganske fin.

I love Trinidad far rums that are aged. This rum has all the great notes I enjoy I. The Angostura 1824 without the heavy price tag. Drinking it neat is delicious and it also mixes really well in any drink. Very smooth, you can smell and tastes notes of molasses, caramel, and I don't know why but I also get nutmeg. Worthy of being stocked in your cabinet all year long.

This is something I try to have always stocked in my home bar. It has the intense Demerara flavor with vanilla and spice. I don't mind sipping it, but I also use it as a mixer.
