Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still Distilled
El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.
Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

I think this was the result of a pissing contest between Odin and Zeus. Result 'nectar' of the gods.
For me the 12 yo is a better taste (from recollection ) in comparison to the 15 and 22 yo. Silky smooth and sweet. I know it's nit a descriptive review on flavours and textures but it gets my vote
Great rum. Aged to perfection with a smooth finish. I prefer the 12 year over the 15 year old. Much bolder flavors on the initial taste and smoother on the pallet.
Lovely fruity after taste, nice on the rocks or with Coke.
For the price its a good rum . I payed $35+ tax for it , diplamatico is $5 more and still my fav sipper. I will try the 15 year next
Very sweet and tasty, recommended for cocktails. But alone will satisfy you as well.
I really enjoy this rum. It is my go to when I want a treat. Any other rum is judged against this. I have tried some other but for the money this is the real deal.
When I first tasted this I thought it was a bit short on the aftertaste. Then I realised it was that smooth. Fairly sweet and that's something coming from me who is keen on the sweet stuff. Can only drink one per night as I'm too greedy so use a mixer mostly. But not with this one. Oh no.
This is great rum. I still have a hard time drinking any rum neat, or on the rocks, but managed to enjoy this one without mix.
Being the first fine rum I tried I had nothing to compare it against, only Mount Gay Ecplise! After getting to kknow a few more rums I began to appreciate this one more, and especially against the ED 21.
ED 21 for me needs water added, but the 12 is perfect on its own. Didn't take long to finish the bottle as my 'research' continued. Second bottle arrives next week.
...this is a good Demerara sipping rum which (almost) is even for my taste not too sweet. There are fruity notes of banana and honey, also some vanilla and a tart flavour that disappears after a few moments until it unfolds on your taste buds. Gets a bit lost in a cocktail with aromatic ingredients but that's not really what it's made for, anyway. Worth a try
Lush tropical fruit and spice nose with hints of honey and dark sugar...
"El Dorado 12-Year rum review by Mike at Ultimate Rum Guide"
Itβs sweeter with more delicate fruit flavours coming to the fore.
"Itβs very sweet and quite light. Itβs very easy drinking. As a sipping rum it as easy to drink."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Very full body and sweet as hell, sort of reminds me of a decent scotch thanks to the barrel, aging procedure, and the general technique behind this beauty. This is something that stands independent in its glass neat and tidy, especially if you're kicking back and enjoying a fine Dominican cigar.
