Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still Distilled

El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.

Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

A nicely balanced rum that is sublimely smooth, my go-to rum in a pinch.

I found this to be best rum for the price ($32 CDN). Nothing comes close in the price range.

I have mixed feelings on this one. Taste was not very soft and taste was not well balanced. I expected more from this bottle but this is matter of opinion.

Its the first rum i tried in the 12 year range and its a good one.
This rum has a nice medium dark colour and the smell is very soft and smooth.
The taste is sweet, maybe a bit to sweet but after you have it for a second in our mouth the stronger rum taste is overruling and you feel the alcohol a bit. in the end the smooth and sweet aftertaste is finishing the show.

certainly a very nice rum for sipping and a good price ( €24) for a 12 year old one.

I like it. It has an oak taste that seemed a bit hard initially but leaves a nice after taste

Since it needs to be distinguished by it's"older" brother, the 15 years old which IMO doesn't make it so high, so I will reserve the 7 rate for it ...
This one is a really smooth, aroma rich and sweet (not in the way Reserva Exclusiva is) Rum.
Vanilla, citrus, Cane sugar, all lightly spiced, firmly smoked with tobacco scent and perfectly blended together.
Another one that easily makes it to the "MUST TRY" category!
