El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including double wooden pot stills and are aged in bourbon oak casks.
Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

Normally I drink my rum straight, this rum however is something I will break down and add in a combination with a mix (rum mule is a good option). This rum is smother than some others in this price range with a hint of Carmel but has a slight ethanol finish.
It have burned smel and after taste...
Think the rest will be enjoyed with Cola...

I don't know how this rum won any prices with so much added sugar. It's not a bad rum, whole profile is quite basic (similar to zacapas) but that added syrap sweetnes is a real turn off. Maybe for a teenager taking first sips of alcohol this can be very nice experience but for a grown up man - no, no, no.

It’s a decent rum but at the price point it’s a bit more than I could justify. If it were ten dollars less I’d say it’d be good but i don’t understand the hype on this one. It’s a bit sweet followed by a harsh alcohol burn, not terrible but for a more premium rum I expected more. However with that said I like my rum sweet, so if you like less sweet and bitier rum this is for you, but if you want a sweet rum that is smoother go get Diplomático.

Süss und fruchtig am Gaumen.
In der Nase eher interessanter.
Great expectations for this rum only to get an overly sweet sugary alcohol drink. Not to complex flavors (black sugar - fruits and a bit of tofee) leaving behind just the taste of water washed sugar.
If you want to know how it tastes without buying it try this: put a candy or a lollipop in your mouth for two minutes. Now add a drop of alcohol and wash out with water. There you have it! El Dorado 12 years!
This is not the way a rum should taste. A big disappointment...
For those who want to enjoy a cigar with a rum this is not the right option.
It's a rough start and finish. Even in coke it's not great.
Lush tropical fruit and spice nose with hints of honey and dark sugar...
"El Dorado 12-Year rum review by Mike at Ultimate Rum Guide"
It’s sweeter with more delicate fruit flavours coming to the fore.
"It’s very sweet and quite light. It’s very easy drinking. As a sipping rum it as easy to drink."

Not my favourite it has a taste that doesn’t agree with me. It seams bitter and has more of an alcohol bite than similar rums.
