But I was slightly disappointed. 😞
It is sweet with definite hints of banana, which is a good thing! But it's not smooth. Forgettable.
Great neat with ice. Lovely flavours of vanilla and spice. Warm on the way down with no nasty after taste. One of my favourites.
A good flavorful rum. It is a bit sweeter than I care for. The banana flavor is a bit strong but it is smooth neat and mixes well with coke. If you like banana this might be the rum for you.
Smells BEAUTIFUL. A smooth vanilla essence. A consistent blend from start to finish.
Smells better than it tastes. Strong Carmel smell. Like the xo better but the store was out, so gave it a try.
I considered Bumbu XO a decent choice so I decided to fill a hole and finally try Bumbu Original in "Parter" bar, Toruń, Poland.
The bottle is original but on the edge of daub. In the glass the rum has light golden brown colour.
The aroma is strong, dominated by banana (gross michel, a dead species of banana, not the bananas we eat today. I suggest you to Google it up, it's a very interesting story of banana business). You can also sense anise and some cloves.
Bananas are also present in the mouth, accompanied by vanilla. Combined with sweetness of this rum, these tastes remind me a piece of bakery. The finish is short, spicy and very sweet. After drinking a glass your breath smells like a banana.
I used a word "banana" in this review many times and it brought me to the conclusion that there is nothing else particularly interesting in this rum. It is drinkable but i think i will not repeat this experience.
Way too much banana sweetness for my liking. Not for me.
This is one of very best ones. Little sweet, soft, full body, fruity
This one leans more to the sweet side with some heavy caramel and vanilla notes. It's the perfect dessert sipper.
I enjoyed this, but I knew exactly what I was getting from it. Artificial banana smell is unfortunately a weakness of mine so this was always going to succeed, but that doesn't make it great by any means.
Will definitely find success amongst people who want to say they love rum, but actually just get drunk on this and the Kraken. Overpriced.
The nose smells very sweet. Llashings of caramel and toffee.
"It barely even tastes like alcohol in any way shape or form. No mid palate and definitely no finish not even the slightest hint of alcohol burn. Maybe a little bit of woodiness as it goes down."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Going bananas

Never tasted something like this. If you like a sweet rum, you won't be disappointed with this one. For me it was a bit too sweet.
The most interesting part was the nose and taste of bananas. Or maybe better: pisang goreng (fried banana). At the very first sip I thought I tasted something artificial at the end (not as heavy as Don Papa though), but after a few sips more it was gone. It's a very smooth rum that can be sipped easily.
It comes in a bottle that will remind you of pirates immediately. Very nicely done!
Even though it's too sweet for me, I'll probably get a new one when this one's finished. Sometimes a sweet tooth is needed....
