Empfehlenswert.
I know each to his own, and tastes wildly vary but this should not be sold as Rum. Like the other reviews have said this is a sugary banana liqueur. Received this as a gift and as soon as I smelled it I knew something was wrong. A couple sips and I couldn't handle the sweetness and strong banana essence. Had a chemical aftetaste as well. Couldn't drink more and attempting a return. Nice bottle and claims of long heritage.
Ok so I bought it for the cool looking bottle, 10/10 for design, simple and pirate inspired. As for the rum, very strong banana syrup taste and definitely not something I enjoyed sipping even with ice. It did make a fun dark and stormy though.
Magnificent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This rum is sweet with a distinct banana aroma along with vanilla. I have a large collection of rums of all types and this will always have a place in my collection. Good change of pace from some other stronger tasting rums I have. Nice on the rocks for a relaxing evening.
This is a very sweet rum that is fabulous as a dessert after a wonderful dinner! It has a lower alcohol content so it makes a perfect night cap also!
Strong banana and vinilla favor. Pretty sweet but soft ending.
Na Bumbu som sa veľmi tešil a mal väčšie očakávania. No sklamal má a nenadchol, dokonca korok bolo cítiť aj v rume,keďže ho výrobca nemá správne potiahnutý a skôr surový. V chuti cítiť,že je dochucovany a chuť nevytvoril len súd,či zrenie. Nie je zlý,no ďalšiu fľašu neplánujem kúpiť. Zaostal za povesťou jedného z najjemnejsich rumov sveta
Smager meget syntetisk af banan og har ellers ikke meget at byde på.
This is a good dessert drink, not to be confused with a traditional 'sipping' rum. Very sweet and you can smell the bananas as soon as you open the bottle. Very much a liqueur.
The nose smells very sweet. Llashings of caramel and toffee.
"It barely even tastes like alcohol in any way shape or form. No mid palate and definitely no finish not even the slightest hint of alcohol burn. Maybe a little bit of woodiness as it goes down."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Banana, vanilla,.......but where's the rum?

The first thing you can say about this drink is that it definitely has plenty of banana. I hesitate to call it rum. As others have said it's more of a banana/vanilla liqueur. The first sip confirms the aroma.... with a bunch (no pun intended) of banana and vanilla. Warming and then a slightly bitter banana (surprise) finish. I don't think I'd want to have to drink this very often.
There is not really much if any rum character that I can find in this. Too much spice, banana, vanilla etc. It's sweet but not sugary if that makes sense. The flavor of the drink coats the palate and lingers on and on. The longer I sit here with it next to me the more I dislike it. The aroma is overpoweringly banana. I like sweet rums, dry rums and those right down the middle but I don't like this.
I'd have a hard time recommending this to anyone who wants to taste rum. There are a lot of people out there who like spiced rums and think that is what rum is all about but even to them I'd say just stick with Captain Morgan or CM Private Stock. It's infinitely better and much less expensive.
At $36 in Ohio it's WAY, actually obscenely overpriced. Don't waste your money.
