Read reviews and thought they might be overblown comments about added flavoring and extracts, because I’ve seen reviews of Diplomatico Reserva calling it more of a liqueur and claiming added flavoring. Well I have to say they were right about this one. It could be a sipping rum because it is a liquid and can be dipped. The nose is heavy with straight up banana extract. It has the exact same nose as a bottle of banana extract with just slightly stronger alcohol notes. Would say it’s not as sweet as runs labeled banana rum and that it does have some vanilla and slightly spicy finish. This is a rum needing a mixologist to tap its purpose.
and not as in good. It is a good mixer but not the premium drink it makes itself out to be.
Trop sucré pour moi. La bouteille est vraiment belle, mais le rhum.... Trop de vanille et trop de goût en même temps.
Too much banana flavor and sugar.
Otherwise soft rhum due to 35° of alcohol with other taste of caramel and spicies.
I’ve seen this a lot through different media and decided to try it. Was not a big fan. The nose smells sweet and fruity. The taste isn’t too far off. Very sweet and very fruity. I would recommending mixing with juice. The nice thing about it is you are so taken back by the sweetness that you don’t notice any burn.
More of a sweet liquer than a rum. Too much banana, toi sweet and not enough depth or complexicity.
70 proof of awefullness. I can’t even think of anything to mix this syrup with. Big bottle, big cork, big disappointment.
mám opravdu rád sladší rumy, ale tohle už je moc. mix kávového Božkova a marshmallov.
Very sweet, too much vanilla and banana for my taste. Good for an after dinner drink. I had a friend of mine taste some and didn't tell him what it was and he thought it was a fruit liquor. Smooth and I like it just not as a real Rum.
Not a rum for me. The taste of banana is very strong and has a bad after taste.
I find that it’s really sweet with loads of vanilla, it’s smooth but to be enjoyed with coke or in a cocktail
It pours brown in colour. Aroma and flavour are of banana and vanilla. It's quite sweet and only just on the right side of smooth to drink neat. I prefer to drink it with cola or Kinnie but it's certainly not the nicest rum I've tasted.
Based on a 16the century recipe? Seriously? I have never seen so much hype for a rum and much to it's credit, RumRatings is the only site out there with a realistic rating for this stuff. Normally, I'm pretty relaxed about the advertising hype, but this stuff represents rum about as much as banana liqueur does.
Thankfully it is not as off putting as AH Riise stuff, but it is so far from rum as Fanta.
Solid and enjoyable, but not great. Probably not worth the price charged by my local place.
I’m not a fan of “spiced rum”. This is a tad sweet and banana/vanilla for my taste.
It’s a nice after dinner liquor, but not really a rum, so it’s not really fair to rate it as a rum.
Not as spicy as I anticipated, very sweet. Orange and vanilla and coconut notes. Would be better in a Tiki drink rather than with cola.
I really did not enjoyed this “rum”, it has too much banana flavour and not delicate taste.
Its very sweet, non burning rum. Some ppl may like it. I felt tooons of vanilla and caramel, maybe fried bananas. But i felt vanilla so much, that it taste to me like some chemical aroma which u add to the cake. So thats why myrate is just 5. Here are better rums. (bottle is nice)
This is one of the only rums, besides run of the mill bacardi I can get at my local. It's just too sweet and too banana for me.
I’ve learned if you have a nice bottle at a medium price, typically the rum is garbage. This rum is exactly that. No defining quality. Not much different from a cheap bacardi.
Schmeckt wie das zum backen genutzte Rum-Aroma, fruchtig süss, durchaus trinkbar aber halt irgendwie künstlich.
Ausserdem sollte er mit 35%vol auch nicht Rum heissen.
Overall the rum was really sweet with a lot of banana. Doesn't really taste like an aged rum, more like banana candy in a bottle. If your into that this is the rum for you, but this is definitely not what you expect from an aged rum.
Yep that's what you get with this rum a sweeeeeet , cloy, desert rum and well maybe a cavity or two .
If you like sweet sweet rum go for it ,
if not steer clear way clear
