While not quite as good as the XO, this rum has great notes of banana that make it great when sitting in a hammock after a day on the beach.

Nice fruity aroma, strong banana.
Taste; bit too strong banana flavour, nice soft aroma after warming.
Too much sugar.
Good if you like aromas in your rum

Its like a good student who doesn't want to learn. I prefer the XO version

It's definitely on the sweet end of the spectrum, but balancing well on the limit where it is still good. Many will probably find it too sweet. The taste is just right, well balanced, strong vanilla but nothing too intrusive. I enjoyed it. A superb choice for a beginner! :-)

Strong banana smell on opening the bottle made me think of caramelised banana. Taste is Vanila, Caramel and a bit of banana. A bit of a bite on the back end.

I honestly don’t know what to make of this rum, in regards to whether I actually like it or not. To me it has a slight nutty smell, which I do like, so off to a good start. Neat it’s a tad on the rough side, but to counter act that burning sensation, there is plenty of sweetness going on (some argue too much) giving this rum a nice yin and yang balance. With Coca-Cola any unpleasantness evaporates leaving you to enjoy a rum packed with plenty of flavours. Now here is my problem. The majority of people say the predominant flavour coming through is banana. Me, I’m not so sure, because from my first impressions, I thought I could taste hazelnut! Weird I know! Then some people have said they can taste caramel and others have said they taste vanilla. So it comes as no surprise to me that I can not definitively say what this rum actually tastes off. I’ll have to let you work that out for yourselves.

I agree with other reviewers as to the fruity flavors and as with Plantation Pineapple they are both in the same category. Again I would drink on ice or mix with soda water as a summer drink.

I am quite surprised at the absolute snobbery seen in these threads. Is this a premium rum? No. Is this sweet? Yes. Is there strong hints of vanilla and fruit? Yes. Is it a liqueur more than a drinking rum? Probably. Would I serve this and pass it off as top shelf? No damn way, the gimmicky bottle gives it away. Is it fun, easy drinking, and a way to get the less tipple-trendy people a way to have a sip that won't make them spit it out? Yes. Will the rum connoisseur spit it out, roll his eyes, and feign grievous injury and insult to his haughty and pretentious pallette? Hell yes, and it will be fun to watch the antics just before you slap his prideful, pompous, petty personality back to earth!! Enjoy it for what it is, don't expect more, and pour it over ice cream...giggling while your betwixed and bemused friend balls up in pain! :)

Very apparent that additional flavorings were added, but still tastes good. The vanilla taste that is present works well in a banana daiquiri. Tasty, but not likely I'd buy again at this price if other options available.
