Rational Spirits Santeria

Love the LA based Lost Spirits rums, can taste the creativity through science. If you get to tour the distillery, it's Disneyland for adults.

I got to taste this at a rum festival recently. It's my first (and so far only) introduction to the products and collaborations of Lost Spirits Distillery (if this name doesn't ring a bell, look it up—the Cocktail Wonk has an excellent write-up). Hadn't heard of them when I encountered the Rational Spirits table, and the rep was telling me a little about the alchemy behind the "accelerated aging process." Maybe it was my skepticism, but I didn't care for this rum much at all. It was sweet, yes, and strong, but something about it just tasted /different/, and off-putting. Unskilled use of pot-still distillates with this experimental aging technique? Who knows. Others like this rum, and people simply rave about Lost Spirits, so I'd really like to try their solo releases.
