This is perhaps the first one to be named by most people, when they are asked to list rums. That is a little funny, when you think about the fact, that it is illegal to call this a bottle of rum in some markets.

Nose: Vanilla, vanilla, vanilla and a little caramel. Very sweet.
Taste: Nothing but the sweetest artificial vanilla flavour. Can feel my blood sugar rising.
Overall: The most famous bottle and perhaps the worst I have ever tasted. This has nothing to do with rum and is not even fit for mixing.

Halt ein spiced Rum, recht süss mit viel Vanille und Weihnchtsgewürz geschmack.
Etwas zum Mixen.

If you are desperate and have little choice this works but honestly, go with the Bacardi Oakheart alternative which is in a similar price point but has superior qualities. Its not close. Can you imagine sipping this? We include it in blind taste tests to prove the point. You can do better. The glimmer of hope is based on reformulating this stuff given the competition now makes this obsolete.

I enjoy this drink.
It has a beautiful spice taste to it. Maybe just a little powerful but not disheartening.
Its not smooth and causes a nice little bite going down with the spice kicking in afterwards.
Well done n good pirates bottle hahaha

You know what you get with the Cap’n. Definitely the best rum to start with as it gives you a good baseline moving forward. Just make sure you don’t stick to morgans for too long as there are much better runs to experiment.

A bit alcoholic with synthetic flavoring, but it works. Taste is on par with pfice and shortcomings are clear if consumed on ice or neat.

So this stuff goes great in coke. Adds a really full spicy body like cinnamon and vanilla flavors, really brings out the awesomeness that is coca cola.

I'll sip it in a pinch because it really isn't bad rum, it just lacks the subtler qualities that make a truly great sipper. It definitely sips easier with a cube or two in it, which of course kills the effect of a neat glass of rum. That's just personal preference though I guess.

Is it even really rum. Is ok with some cola of there is nothing else to drink. Don't understand how it is so popular

If you’re after a sweet mixer rum this is it. Tonnes of vanilla and sugar
