It is really bad if you want to drink this straight. It is flavoured liquor you can mix with Coke when you want to get drunk, nothing else.
Really, I don't understand the below 5 ratings! Take it as a drink of Saturday afternoon (regular amount, plus one ice cube) and you have a nice hour to enjoy. That's all about this rum. Not to experience new dimensions! Just as an easy, smooth, and tasty spirit. And all this with 12euros (Germany). OK, if I have paid a comparable to a hotel room price, yes, then, I would expect "complex tasty" "long and sweet aftertaste" etc. etc. But this is not for all about!
Good for cooking maybe only for mixture of drinksβ¦3/10
Nice and spicy smell.
Tasty and quite sweet, suits lots of dishes.
Good companion as a mixer as well.
Goes with coke, overhyped mass produced brand, great availability tho.
This is very common. Drinking in its pure form is difficult, but with cola, juices, etc. fine. Too expensive for this taste.
May be a common rum to buy but it is very nice! Nothing wrong with it
I you want to get drunk pour some in a glass and fill It with coke.
The first rum I ever tried. It's a cheap mixer. Goes well with coke, Apple and pineapple juice.
Not the one for sipping and I wouldn't buy it to add it to my collection.
The nose on this rum is sharp, sweet and artificial. It smells almost cloyingly sickly sweet.
"It really is just vanilla, vanilla and a touch more vanilla. There is no subtlety, no hints of spices not even a hint of ginger or anything worth while. Its basically Vanilla flavoured rum."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Captain Morgan Original Spiced Gold 35% (Jamaica)
Eye: Gold
Nose: Pretty forward smell of hard lemon drops, public toilet, industrial soap, faint vanilla, over ripe fermented honey dew melon and something like sour star fruit. Very light and thin impression. It also reeks of old fridge-damaged vegetables. There is also something that has a slight resemblance of light, cheap chocolate.
Mouth: Sugar and diluted eau-de-vie with a twist of lemon and artificial vanilla sugar. It is thin and unrefined with no trace of self-worth or dignity. This is the captain of a sinking ship in lukewarm salty water. For a second I thought I sensed cinnamon but that could be wishful thinking.
Reaction: I have had this in coke with ice before and have enjoyed hundreds of them. Now I wonder why? Well, I was young and stupid - just like this beverage right here. Maybe it is unfair to taste it as a sipping rum but at the same time, and in all fairness, a drink should be able to stand on its own I think. How else can I compare? Well, this may be the last I see of this horrible rum-like booze.
