This one I found on the shelf at Dorignac's in Metairie, LA (New Orleans) and is the first French rum I have encountered. I had to use an online translator but basically the label indicates this is a blend of carefully selected rums assembled in the best distilleries. I have not found much online about this rum.

It is a dark amber in color...almost mahogany. It has a rather strong odor which stings the nose a bit.

Swirled it in my snifter and saw that it has definite legs.

Legs that lasted a long time.

The flavor is a bit hard to describe. It is dry which makes me think this was made with pressed sugar cane juice but not exactly agricole. Perhaps they blended it a small portion of either cane syrup or molasses based rums which may account for the extra dark color and a hint of sweetness. I don't detect too much oak in it so it seems to be a young rum. It does have some spiciness to it and a bit of an edge to it. A fairly strong burn. Surprised it is 80 proof. The burn is more akin to a higher proof rum. The finish is dry and long.

In my opinion this is too harsh to be a sipping rum but would do well as a mixer especially as a substitute for young white rums and perhaps some overproofs. I think it would be much better if the majority rum was allowed to age longer. Perhaps by several years. It has potential.
