Need to mix a tiki drink or English-style rum punch without breaking the bank? Reach for this. While it's nowhere near the lead for funkiest Jamaican or best sipper, it's got a solid flavor in its own right, and it does the job just fine in either a foreground or background role in a mixed drink.
Golden color, light nose light on the tongue, lingering taste. Solid but not spectacular
I felt it was different from other Appleton products. Mild at first, but the metal smell is not a nice one. It's ok. I tried with 1 ice cube maybe in a mix a maybe a little better.
I definitely enjoyed this rum over some ice. It is missing something for sure.
This stuff doesn't offend, but I find it lacks character. If a cocktail calls for Jamaican rum, give me Smith and Cross.
I used to drink a lot of this and I considered it pretty primo back when I was 20 and usually getting shitfaced off Captain Morgan Spiced with Coke, but 15 years later my tastes have changed and to me this has a very distinct flavour that isn't quite awesome. Drink this if you're a classy alcoholic.
very drinkable mixed. wouldn’t mind having a full bottle. had my bartender at my job make me one mixed with coke. would try again , not bad. enjoyable. i bet different blends are tastier.
This rum is meant for mixing and not to be sipped. Good for a rum and cola.
I picked this up on sale recently, with the new green and white label. It's got some nice funk, but still very beginner friendly. Definitely enjoyed it, and easily available and affordable. This is a good intro to Jamaican rum for many people. Mixes well also!
Well balanced and it is a quite subtle (by Jamaican standards) rum.
"The initial sip is quite smooth but the palate soon heats up and feels the black pepper again, this time with some chilli and ginger spice."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

A bit hot for a 40% rum. Sipped neat the funk is there in the background but not so much that it stands out in a mixed drink. Not a bad rum to keep on hand for tiki drinks like a Gold Cup.
