I didn't have high hopes for this rum, but didn't really expect it to be this bad. I've poured some in a glass, and had a sip, then put the cap back on the bottle, and it's been sitting on the shelve since. Wasted money. Strong taste of industrial alcohol, strong afterburn. Wouldn't even use it as a mixer. Just skip it.
Only have used this in cocktails and it serves that purposed fine.
Low qualty rum, smell and alcool aroma,
The taste Is weak and full of alcool.
Not forse drink and maybe not either forse mixing.
I had previously knocked this one; now, Iāve decided to rate it higher (from 4 to 6) based on the merits it presents. Firstly, itās a marquee Jamaican blend that represents the funk inherent with the style in fine fashion. Restrained? Yes. Interesting? Yep. Genre-defining or boundary-pushing? No.
This is now my go-to for blends and mixes calling for Jamaican rum, it brings the body and flavor required and makes a happy cocktail.
This is an excellent go-to rum if you're making a lot of drinks at home or commercially. It gives plenty of the Jamaican hogo funkiness called for in many tiki drinks...at a nice price!
I quite like to have this to hand as a mixing rum. Goes well with Cola and also with Apple juice.
All around a nice rum, use it mostly for cocktails, will sip on occasion.
There's just something pleasant about Appletons rums. Nothing harsh or overpowering. Some might say a little boring. I find it a really nice drop mixed or on ice. An everyday mix for an everyday person. Not pricey and still decent enough to look forward too at the end of a hard day.
This gets a definite not bad from be on the third sip straight up. Iād serve it, maybe sip it, mix it and ship it.
An honest effort and a good deal. However as a top shelfer as in where Iām at says more about the bar than the booze. Tastes kinda like rum. Beginners Xaymacan.
Very good "go-to" rum for an occasional drink. Pricier than something less worthy, but absolutely worth it. Sometimes hard to find, but good to the last drop.
Well balanced and it is a quite subtle (by Jamaican standards) rum.
"The initial sip is quite smooth but the palate soon heats up and feels the black pepper again, this time with some chilli and ginger spice."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

This is what I would pick at a bar to mix with Coke. It's not a bad rum, but it's not a stand out.
