After my disappointment with Appleton's 12 year old rum I have stayed away from this brand. However others have liked it so I bought a bottle on the way home from BVI. I am no connoisseur, but I do enjoy this rum. Taste is good but not as smooth as some. However in this price range it's a good pick.

A harsh rum with the smoothness of 120 grit sandpaper. Somewhat pleasant aroma but less flavor and more of a whiskey taste.

Great mixer, if you don't feel like thinking about what to buy, buy this.

Very good for AEโ€™s basic rum! Smooth, great in a rum cocktail, & even works on the rocks in a pinch. Upgrade to the Reserve Blend when you can, but youโ€™ll enjoy this โ€œone size fits allโ€ rum! ๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ

This is fantastic stuff. Mixes really well and can be a supper too. Smooth but with character. Not very flammable. Not too sweet. Not too funky. Not too heavy. Great flavor. The average rating here is low in my opinion.

Bought this on a whim after spotting it in a super market.
Itโ€™s many years since I last tried it, and Iโ€™m pretty sure itโ€™s going to be a while before I buy again.
Good with coke, but far too harsh , for me, to drink neat, as I prefer to take my rums.
Appletonโ€™s, like I imagine for a lot of people, is where my rum journey started many years ago.
Use as a mixer by all means

Graham.

Starts off super bold and high octane, but mellows out quickly to a smooth finish

Great addition to the list, one more down 49 to go.

Nice fruity maybe too much alc, but good that is dry not some sugar bomb

Final verdict:
probably I will give it another shot

I had this on a Disney cruise and enjoyed it but when I bought a bottle back in the states i was surprise that it didn't taste as good. To be honest I may have had the Reserve Blend on the cruise. I will try it next to be sure. Either way this rum is good for rum and coke but I still prefer Sailor Jerry for my rum and coke.
