Dos Maderas PX 5 + 5 rum is made from a combination of rums from Barbados and Guyana. It is unique becuase of its triple ageding process where for 5 initial years the rum is aged in the Carribean in oak casks. Next PX 5 + 5 is aged in Spain for 5 years in sherry casks, and lastly for 2 more years in even older sherry casks.
The Dos Maderas family of rums are produced by Bodegas Williams & Humbert, which is a well known Spanish winery founded by Sir Alexander Williams in the late 1800s. The region of Spain where the winery is located has a climate perfectly suited for wine and is known as Europe's wine cellar.

Woah!!!!!!!!!! For $40 you get a rum that finishes off with the taste of wine, even if you don't like this, it's definitely a try it at least once type of deal. Great rum for when you want to change things up once in awhile for me it's a staple daily go-to
This is a really good sipping rum - no alcoholic taste, with a nice caramel color and flavor. Doesn't have many distinguishing characteristics beyond that, but I will always accept the glass.... :)
Rhum très boisé. La double maturation en fut donné des arômes très fort de bois. Déroutant.
Expected something a bit smoother aftet first sip. Alcohol taste stays stronger and longer, but the body is pleasant and fruity
That is a rum of my taste... maybe a bit too sweet but.....still very, very reasonable
i wouldn't mix it with any other liquid, just drink it pure
Noticed the ethyl aroma upon first sip. Flavored with Sherry taste, smooth and well rounded. However a little too sweet for my taste.
Easy to drink, fresh taste caused by cherry barrels.
A nice somewhat smooth rum. Nice colour, would I buy it again. Yes,think so
This rum was recommended to me by my local liquor store rum connoisseur. It was better than I had imagined. It starts smooth and sweet, with ice it mellows and opens up to many different flavors. This rum is definitely in my top 5.
Started off overly sweet with dark fruit flavors. Sweetness mellowed as the rock watered it down and it took on more of a traditional rum flavor after that. Probably won't go back to this one any time soon.
Rich, plump raisins dominate the palate.
"Quite drying on the palate so the mid palate. A slight oakiness and a little touch of the oak barrel."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Sweet, spicy, with dried fruits

This is a spicy and sweet rum. The taste is very intensiv because of this combination.
Since I have Presindete Marti 23 and Esclavo XO, this one is not very special for me (but the cocoa is still interesting).
I don't like strong sweetness with spice. The spice intensifies the sweetness. There is a strong disbalance in the taste because of that. Flavors are dark with cocoa, burned sugar, dried fruits, mandarine. There is also a younger rum in the taste (champignon aroma).
Smell: cocoa, dried fruit, spice, burnt sugar, nutmeg, sweetness, wood, fruits (mandarine)
Taste initial: burnt caramel, mandarine, cocoa
Middle: spice, light sherry note, oak, sweetness, milk chocolate, champignon
Finish: middle long, sweet, burnt suggar
Aftertaste of burned caramel and then sherry, after 2min.
Sweetness: 4 / 5
Spice: 3.5/5
Fruit: 3 / 5
Mildness: 3.5 / 5
Value (35β¬): 3/5
Similar rum: Esclavo XO, more balanced, more wood, more mandarine in the taste and smell.
Presidente Marti 23 - less mandarine, no cocoa aroma
