Dos Maderas PX 5 + 5 rum is made from a combination of rums from Barbados and Guyana. It is unique becuase of its triple ageding process where for 5 initial years the rum is aged in the Carribean in oak casks. Next PX 5 + 5 is aged in Spain for 5 years in sherry casks, and lastly for 2 more years in even older sherry casks.
The Dos Maderas family of rums are produced by Bodegas Williams & Humbert, which is a well known Spanish winery founded by Sir Alexander Williams in the late 1800s. The region of Spain where the winery is located has a climate perfectly suited for wine and is known as Europe's wine cellar.

this rum has a port finish, if you like this it's ok. for me it's too much port taste, then better take the PuntaCana XOX from Oliver.
The sherry element stand strong. The heart of the Caribbean rum struggle a bit. I let it rest a bit in my glass and it seems to balance better. Overall a good sipper

This is a assault on your senses which is different but also very familiar.
If like me you enjoy Don F Res Exc, then this is where it is familiar to your taste buds. But at the same time it’s different. Certainly not so sweet as Venezuela’s finest, but along the same lines.
It has a wonderful dark colour, a nose of toffee, caramel, fruit, with very little burn. A long aftertaste just adds to its charm.
A good solid bottle with a proper cork, in a classy package, this rum could very easily become a firm favourite for me.

Not much on the nose, but strong,vanilla and bananna up,front. Molasses and tobacco on the finish.
Overall, a really good sipping rum that is on the sweet aide of the flavor profile.

Tenhle vecer nebyl uplne pro rum stvoreny. Tenhle rum jsem ochutnal chvilku po Don Papa. Oproti nemu je znatelne lepsi. Je potreba ho nechat trosku odvetrat. Ve vuni je scherry opravdu hodbe znat, pokracuje karamel a trosku orechu. V chuti opet tresne a v dokonceni trosku toffee. Na zaplacnuti chuti na sladky dobry, ale na klidny vecer po narocnem dni asi ne...

The taste is complicated, but very very pleasant. The rum is “only” 5 years aged in Caribbean and it makes it slightly biting, the next mature process in Europe gave it mainly the sherry flavors and smoothness in the throat. But the afterburn of the rum is quite intensive, I have to say that is something I like, and was amazed from. You can feel, from every sip, you are drinking not an extra aged or premium rum, but younger product with tremendous care and delicate sherry tones.

Édes és sherry-s, nagyon könnyen csúszik le. Olyannyira, hogy gyanús, nem volt teljesen üres az a sherry-s hordó amikor belekerült a rum. Nekem ízlik, de megértem az a rumfanatikust aki kiátkozza.

This is a really good sipping rum - no alcoholic taste, with a nice caramel color and flavor. Doesn't have many distinguishing characteristics beyond that, but I will always accept the glass.... :)
