Dos Maderas PX 5 + 5 rum is made from a combination of rums from Barbados and Guyana. It is unique becuase of its triple ageding process where for 5 initial years the rum is aged in the Carribean in oak casks. Next PX 5 + 5 is aged in Spain for 5 years in sherry casks, and lastly for 2 more years in even older sherry casks.
The Dos Maderas family of rums are produced by Bodegas Williams & Humbert, which is a well known Spanish winery founded by Sir Alexander Williams in the late 1800s. The region of Spain where the winery is located has a climate perfectly suited for wine and is known as Europe's wine cellar.

I've tried their luxus in a mini bottle and was blown away, this PX5+5, which is their budget offering, is almost as good. Incredibly smooth, it's just really easy to enjoy, straight or mixed. Absolute steal at €35!

One of my favourites. Delivers with an enticing smell on the nose with an initial sweet taste followed by the taste vanilla, mollasses and ending with sherry. All very smoothly. Definately worth a try.
Suggested by the bartender James at the JW Marriott, Marco Island. Great entry level rum with a bourbon flair. Very smooth and silky with an easy finish. Perfect match with a Bolivar Coronas cigar.

At $30 a bottle it gets a 6. The added sugar is very noticeable as well as the sherry. It's nice to have variations in rum and this is one of them. Not something that's outstanding but for the price it's worth keeping a bottle around to compare. Better suited as an after dinner drink. Seeing the amount of added sugar it should go nice with an espresso and dessert.
A special blend of oak and spice, in a refined but strong body!

100% třtinový karibský rum, jehož zrání je rozděleno do tří fází. Nejdříve zraje 5 let v dubových sudech přímo v Karibiku. Následně zraje již ve Španělsku, v dubových sudech ve sklepech Williams & Humbert, tentokrát 3 roky. Na závěr zraje ještě 2 roky v sudech, ve kterých 20 let zrálo sladké sherry z odrůdy Pedro Ximénez.
Tento rum má harmonickou vůni s dotekem rozinek a fíků. Chuť je velmi jemná, komplexní a hřejivá. Skvělý digestiv a zajímavá alternativa koňaků nebo jiných typů brandy.
One of my faves. Heavy bodied, nice caramel flavour though a touch sweet. Short linger on the tongue but oh so smooth. Nice medium price for a premium rum. So easy drinking it will always be on my shelf.

Ein wunderschönes dunkelrotes Mahagoni im Glas.
Die frischen fruchtigen Düfte des Barbados Rum erreichen die Nase zuerst, gefolgt von herben Holznoten eines Sherry Fasses die die fruchten Noten unterstreicht.
Im Gaumen, ein schön warmes Mundgefühl sehr süss. Die würzigen Aromen vom Demerara Rum stehen im Vordergrund, schön eingepackt in holzigen Sherry Aromen ein perfektes Zusammenspiel.
Im Abgang dominieren die Sherry Fässer begleitet von einer fruchtigen Süsse.
Ein gut gemachter, aber auch sehr süsser Rum den jeder der Diplomatico/Zacapa/Zaya/El Dorado liebt einmal im Glas haben sollte.

No problem, a completely new experience arises!
A beautiful dark red mahogany in the glass.
The fresh fruity fragrances of the Barbados rum reach the nose first, followed by tart notes of a sherry barrel which highlights the fruit notes.
In the palate, a nice warm mouthfeel and very sweet. The spicy aromas of the Demerara Rum stand in the foreground, beautifully packed in woody sherry aromas, a perfect match.
In the finish dominate the sherry barrels accompanied by a fruity sweetness.
A well-made, but also very sweet rum, which everyone who loves Diplomatico / Zacapa / Zaya /
El Dorado should once have in the glass.
