Dos Maderas PX 5 + 5 rum is made from a combination of rums from Barbados and Guyana. It is unique becuase of its triple ageding process where for 5 initial years the rum is aged in the Carribean in oak casks. Next PX 5 + 5 is aged in Spain for 5 years in sherry casks, and lastly for 2 more years in even older sherry casks.
The Dos Maderas family of rums are produced by Bodegas Williams & Humbert, which is a well known Spanish winery founded by Sir Alexander Williams in the late 1800s. The region of Spain where the winery is located has a climate perfectly suited for wine and is known as Europe's wine cellar.

Impressive. Super smooth, balanced and wonderful taste. If I had sth to complain, I'd say it lacks a bit of complexity. However, this is a sipping rum I can enjoy one glass after another ;)
Tasting Notes: dried fruites and licorice.

Smells sweet, needs to breath. The alcohol eminates for a bit. Immature oak notes over shadowed by the sherry. The sherry gives it a deeper, darker fruit taste. Definitely on the sweeter side with a long finish and bite.

Doslova pri ochutnaní tohoto rumy citite akoby sme sa ponorili do starého dreva v perfektnej kombinacii s chutnym rumom !!!

I thought it will be good choose for my taste liking after reading ratings, but pleasant feeling didnt come. Too strong burn that covered other flavours. Obviously sweet rum. Theres a hint of sherry after the burn ends, but this does not work for me...

When I first tried this one 3 years ago I did not liked it at all. Too agressive. Fast forward to my bithday this year. I got a bottle of it. It was way smoother than I remember, more delicate and nicely sweet. Not my favourite. I would not buy it myself, but its good and would drink it again.

Blend karibskych rumu s dvojitým resp trojitým starenim. Sherry jde cítit ve vůni i chuti. Hodně tmavá barva. Příjemná chuť alkoholu.

Tasted at Laka Lono on 10/3/21. Rich a roma of honey and treacle. The sherry really jumps out at you. Rich and full mouthfeel. Caramel, raisins, wine. Yum!

Excellent rum. A surprise for me. I recommend it to everyone. An underrated rum. Chery feels good. Really good rum.

This is another rasin forward rum. If you are a fan of zafra, old monk and those styles of rum you’ll enjoy dos Madeira 5x5. May be the better smoother if the bunch. If you are looking for “traditional” rum taste this won’t be for you or me.
