I have a dozen rums for sipping in the $50-$80 range and have been searching for a go-to, more inexpensive aged rum for mixed drinks. First I tried a couple of Plantations--they're pleasant though rather sweet rums--then Doorly's XO and 8yr which I liked better but when I went to replenish them, they were out of stock. I had read about the Doorly's 5-year and gave it a try. I'm happily surprised... perhaps it's not sophisticated but it's smooth and enjoyable. I added a rating point for value--this was $31.99 for 1.75L at TW, an incredible bargain...it doesn't cost much more than the cheapies from Classic Club, Bacardi, Cruzan and Largo Bay that I last tried in college and will never again revisit...I'd have to become a devoted teetotaler if those were my only options. But if you're looking for a workhorse for your home bar that's decent and inexpensive, look no further...this isn't distinctive or exceptional but it's not harsh or raspy either and you might find yourself enjoying it on its own...it's the best inexpensive rum there is.
Easy to drink with the usual Foursquare DNA.
It usually takes several occasions to consume and rate a drink but I finished this in one day (long day) such is the likeability of it. Prefer the 8with its added depth and here they are the same price so easy choice to make.
Fin rom af en 5 års rom, 6,5. Tag dog storebroren på 14 år i stedet for.
Det er sgu en meget fint rom må man da sige. Så det så det.
Very good but plain and normal, no added sugar....
I like Doorlys line. This one isn't so soft and velvet like 12 Y or 14 Y, but profil is the same.
Do not remember much about this rhum other than the oak flavor from the barrels

Very good quality rum. Recommended for all. Sweet
It’s mellow and inviting. An easy going spirit. A little hint of pepper spice.
"The initial taste is honey and vanilla withDoorly's Fine Old Barbados Rum 5 Years Aged review by the fat rum pirate a little oak. It never quite explodes with tropical fruit flavours."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Lovely 5y for good price

Lovely younger brother of XO, 8y and other older rums of the Doorly's lineup. This one very accessible sipper in terms of inviting sweet profile (no sugar added). On the nose there is vanilla, oak, oranges, on the palate there is pleasant vanilla, fruity, almost honey-like sweetness, with light oak undertone and pleasant mild aftertaste of oak, tropical fruits, with touch of nuts. Surprisingly balanced and overall pleasant rum for its price and age.
