Sweet, smooth, and a hint of wood. Smooth finish that doesn’t linger. Don Q has this one dialed in!
I really enjoyed this bottle.. It was a very nice experience... The smell is so smooth and delicate. Strong ones of vanilla and white chocolate. You can recognize that this is a grown up rum taste. It has a full body.. rich tones of toffee and vanilla a bit of smoke and just a bit of wood.. perfect balance. I truly recommend this one.
Dry and oak. A bit too complex and bitter vs double cast.
leave it in the glass 10-15 minutes because it s a little bit harsh on the nose ...
but than you have a good dry rum, a little bit of oak and vanilla,
for me the predominant note is croissant,
also in the medium finish i have croissant in the mouth ...
The bottle looks royal. After you drink this empty, you can easily put this on your shelf to display.
The drink it self is like warm sweet butter. Fills you mouth with a full body and little burning after you swallow this. With coke, it's great too, but definitely a waste if you ask me.
Jedná se o blend rumů stařených 9 - 12 let v sudech z amer. bílého dubu a rumů zrajících systémem solera až 50 let v sudech po sherry.
Výsledný blend by mělo tvořit až 7 různých rumů.
Aroma: Nakouřený karamel, ořechy, kokos. Pěkná vůně.
Chuť: Vanilka, dřevíčko, sušené ovoce. Příjemně pichlavá.
Dozvuk: Vanilka přecházející do hořkých tónů kávy, špetka sušeného ovoce. Vysychá.
Sladkost: 0/3
Vzorek #23 z RumFest Praha 2021
Jemný rum s příjemným kávovo-kouřovým profilem. Jako u většiny rumů Don Q by vyšší % už tak dobré rumy posunuly o třídu výš. Nadprůměr.
A sweet almost perfumed like aroma is followed by some oak, a little spice and a lovely waft of light vanilla.
"The initial sip gives a sweet yet slightly peppery entry. Running alongside these flavours is a subtly creamy vanilla note which runs right through the rum. The finish is long and peppery."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Major disappointment for the price

For over $50 a bottle I expected something better than what was in the bottle (a very nice bottle incidentally -- worth saving and reusing after scraping the lettering off -- BTW, make sure you have it on a sturdy flat surface because the artificial cork they use has a tight...and I mean TIGHT...fit). A rather dry Puerto Rican rum with very strong oak flavor...more akin to a bourbon than a rum IMHO. Not necessarily a bad thing if you also like bourbon...I do not. Some will probably like this as a sipping rum but for it's too harsh for sipping and needs to be mixed or added to Coke Zero. [NOTE: Just added 3oz to a 16.9oz bottle of Coke Zero -- definitely an improvement.]
