A fabulous premium rum if you have the scratch. It comes in a wonderful box that looks like a silk coffin. I love sipping it on special ocassions. The best I've had from Don Q.
This has some heat to it for a Gran Añejo rum, but when you get passed it, the flavors are really good and it finishes smoother than expected. There's simple mild caramel/oak flavor that's really delicious. There's no added sugar to this rum so it's not as smooth as some sweeter rums, however it's got a great natural/classic taste. Recommend to purists not sugarbomb lovers. Cheers!
molasses. dry rum.
this rum is flashing me. it tastes better than ever expected.
on the nose i realize plum in madiera, raisins and caramel. in the mouth it starts with a fruity sweetness which instantly faded out. plum. leather. chili catch. soft and light body. medium length aftertaste. with the same notes. great stuff.
9/10.
My Favorite Rum from Puerto Rico. Great sipping rum. A bargain in Puerto Rico, but pricey in PA.
One of our great aged rums. I enjoy it on the rocks or neat straight out from the freezer. It has aromas of vainilla and oak.
Ce rhum est très bon, il un gout de caramel, de miel et vanille et quand même complexe. Le prix, la boite et la bouteille ne représente pas le rhum dedans. Il ne faut pas se fier a l'emballage.
This expression of Don Q is superb. Smooth, light with subtle vainilla, caramel and oak. You could understand and appreciate what aging do to rums when comparing it from the Añejo. For me, it's a benchmark.
Great sipping rum. Not too sweet. Super smooth. Just enough burn and a slight sweetness on the finish to make it memorable. Madly recommend. Yummmm!
Don Q Gran Añejo is best drank neer or on the rocks to experience its full body. Dry rum the goes down very smooth. The best out of Puerto Rico!
Enjoy
A sweet almost perfumed like aroma is followed by some oak, a little spice and a lovely waft of light vanilla.
"The initial sip gives a sweet yet slightly peppery entry. Running alongside these flavours is a subtly creamy vanilla note which runs right through the rum. The finish is long and peppery."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

There is a slight burn on the nose but you can smell some of the woodiness. You can taste the cask and some subtle sweetness. Very smooth finish with no burn. Compared to some of the other nice aged rums (Santa Teresa 1796 and Brugal 1888 to name a couple) this is a definite contender to keep on my shelves.
