a mixing rum at best
This was about as bad as I figured, Don Q and as blanco as can be.
Pleasant aroma, very floral. Smooth, nuetral flavor. Nice in daqari, mixes well with most mixers. I like
Nose: some medicine
Palate: harsh, spicy, some menthol (!)
Not much more to say here. I‘ve had much better crystal rums (Santa Cruz from Tenerife, for example).
Info: Bottle looks different now.
Don Q cristal is a versatile everyday white rum that we enjoy after work and in happy hours. Served as cuba-libre or with fresh grapefruit, it starts the evening on the right foot!
This one is really good for mixing. Light floral flavors, no harsh alcohol burn, no overly sweet notes.
Surprising taste, I'm not the biggest fan of light runs but this one was very good. It mixed very well, especially when making more complicated drinks. If you're looking to find a quality light run for the price this is it cheif.
This is my go to mixing rum...great neutral rum flavour at a decent price.
This is my go-to PR rum for punches, and especially coquito. It’s a better value Demerara than the others at this price point (Bacardí, Barrilito 2 star), no frills, no additives.
The best Light Spanish Rum...ever. Full stop. Light, dry, fruity, and sweet. Perfect.
Tried Don Q Cristal neat first and that's a no-go. It will mix well with your favorite soda or with a fancy umbrella drink. There are easily 20 better clear rums though.
In my early days of exploring rum cocktails-which was, uh, not too long ago-this was the first budget rum that I came to appreciate. In a bind, it’s worked in simple rum highballs and on the cheap daiquiris. It’s been a bit since I’ve tried it, and I wanna visit, but flor de cana extra seco has become, and I think will continue to be, my go to white rum. What does that mean? Basically, I gotta smile when I see this as a bars well rum, but as long as I can buy something a little higher, I will.
It's honestly hard for me to be fair on this review as, I grew up drinking this stuff!!!!...this is THE rum people drink widely in the Island....Bacardi, is known locally as a rum for tourists...Serralles, however, is what we all grow up drinking....the QIUZZWER was my very first drink growing up and to this day goes great with any mixer. Mentiritas (little lie) as Cuba Libre's are known in PR are done up with Don Q....
Is it THE best ....NO.....but its a great drink to relax to!!!!
Short on flavor. In some drinks, it feels more like a vodka than a rum
I am a recent explorer of the rum variety. I have drank Bacardi and Captain ever so often when i was younger. My cousin a while back introduced the Don a while back when he came back from Puerto Rico on a business trip.
I was taken by its smoothness and subtle rum flavor. When it was eventually widely available in my area i tend to turn to the Don when i am hosting or wanting mixed drinks. Not my favorite neat but bearable.
Its a good rum, but its too difficult to find it in Mexico.
Reasonably priced and easy to get in my area. This is what I reach for when I want a mojito.
It's a great rum for certain mixes just goes down nice
And can be sipped neat. It has a very light nose, with slight alcohol. Fairly sweet palate. Not bad at all. 6+
Took this in a glass ringed with salt and a lime, I think they thought it was a tequila. Didn't drink it with a lime and the salt didn't add anything to the experience. Drink wasn't anything special and had a harsh ending. Would buy again if found in a bar but wouldn't be my go to sipping solution.
Picked up a bottle after reading a few reviews at $29 for the bottle reasonable price for a white rum .i needed a good white rum to mix a few island drinks with this one fit the bill for sure no harshness love the nose of it
Neutral in flavor, so it won't stand out on your drink. Yes, a little alcohol burn. Well balanced (quality, consistency, price, etc.), light but don't be to confident, still 40% alcohol per volume and with all sugar content of some drinks, you could end with a nasty headache. All in all, best option for mixing.
Has been my well rum for a long, long time. Excellent call spirit for any number of "and" cocktails, hemmingways, and a very light mojito.
Column distilling doesn't murder the cane juice. Still get a little bit of burnt sugars through the heavy sugar cocktails.
Best rum in the Caribbean. It's taste mixes well with everything, especially for a "Cuba Libre". It's ten times better than your regular Bacardi. From Don Q Crystal to all it's flavors it is excellently made. I've been a rum drinker all my life and DonQ is by far my number 1 choice. Those who do not like it, don't know how to appreciate a good rum.
