En meget jævn rom, som ikke har noget specielt at byde på.

A decent rum for the money, but falls short of the "bigger brother" exclusiva

This would be ok with a cigar because it has a woodiness that would suit that. However, drank neat, I found this a little harsh and with too much of an alcoholic taste over the rum taste. It's strong on molasses and more drinkable with a dash of water or a ice-cube or two. I found it disappointing, but maybe that's not because it's not very good, so much as that I was expecting more. The truth is that it feels like a decent rum, but not a special one ...we'll see how I get on with the Exclusiva when the time comes.

I bought a bottle of this when I was studying in France and on a budget. This rum, although a little young, is surprisingly good for its price. It's great to have in your collection. Especially to share with friends who are new to tasting rum. I use it both in cocktails and for tasting. Top of its class

I definitely prefer it's older brother (Reserva Exclusiva), but this one is nice. For me, for the same price, I prefer Eldorado 12 as it's smoother and less alcohol burn.

Chutný a kvalitný Venezuelský rum s dlhotrvajúcou chuťou na jazyku.
Vôňa je príjemná ovocná.
Úvod je príjemný, jemne alkoholový so sviežou chuťou.

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I went searching for my favorite Venezuelan rum, which is Ron Pampero Anaversario, but they were all sold out. Ever since I spent one day in Caracas way back in 1991, I first got to try an incredible one called Gran Selecto, and still have the empty bottle. Lo and behold, the fine print on it says Santa Teresa and it is available locally, so that one is next on my list to find!
I had heard so much about the Diplomatico rums from Venezuela and this liquor store had three to choose from. I was suckered in by the fancy bottle and moderate price on this one. The excitement ended when I opened it up when I got home. There is too much of a hint of rubbing alcohol in this one for my tastes. Yes, it can be sipped neat or on the rocks, so it would therefore make a good mixer. There is just not enough to get excited about to justify me buying any more from Diplomatico. Not bad, but not good. It can't seem to make up it's mind.
