Falto de elaboración, si bien suave, por momentos tuve la sensación de estar tomando una bebida sin un acabado.

This rum was my first sipping rum when i started tasting rums year ago.
Sweet vanilla, toffee, sucar cane and oak. Going down is quite sharp. Is very sweet (sugared) but not as much as the reserva exclusiva if i remember correctly.
Finish is medium long and spicy sugary sweet with some burn.
I almost like this rum bit more than reserva exclusiva because the sharpness
and spiciness gives this rum some character unlike the reserva exclusiva which is extremely inoffensive in profile.
Its still sugared up too much but not destroyed.

Tasted this at a friends house party. I had it a couple of times before but for me right now it carries a lill bit to much alcohol punch. The this might fulfill its purpose some times. But not right now. Need to look into Diplomatico´s finner releases.

Pls spent some more cash and buy reserva exclusiva!
Here you can taste and smell the difference between one brand and two types. Exclusiva is my favourite, this one was just some ordinary rum, hard alcohol taste, feels more in neck and smell is not what you excpect. One trick - leave in glass 3-5 min and drink. Then it is better...

Still good but I prefer Diplomatico Reservera Exclusiva

Oaky smokey tongue, follows with a nourishingly smooth caramel body. One of the smoothest I have had. Could deserve a higher rating if not for my first experience with diplomatico being the XO.

The younger version of reserva exclusiva, but not equally good and balanced. A lot of vanilla, really smooth, but too young and little complex at my taste and sounds me to sugar added. Not quite good.

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Diplomatico Reserva 8 40% (Venezuela)
Eye: Amber with copper tones
Nose: Opens with pronounced elements of grapefruit, old dry wood and molasses. It continues with weak honey, cotton and a hint of orange-zest, fat fish oil, and cheap praline that reminds me of light cooking chocolate. It is no immediate love, I can tell you that. It is so obviously colored, forced and juvenile. To me it smells like drink base.
Mouth: Could I be wrong? No, it even taste like drink base. It has that thin eau-de-vie taste that I dislike so much in a sipping rom. It is young and light and carries few own flavors. It is also short which is actually a forgiving feature in this case. The sweetness comes crawling after a while as do the vanilla. A weak buzz on the palate from the alcohol burn which is neither good or bad. Then a little caramel, honey and melted white sugar with faint hints of pear. That´s it folks! (30 minutes in some soot enters but it really doesn´t add anything.
Reaction: For some reason I had high hopes for this one. Unfortunately, there is no hope and it can´t be compared with anything I have rated so far. It doesn´t even evolve in the glass which is a first. It actually degrades in the glass which is a trademark of any bad product. As sipping rum it has to be the worst yet but that does not mean it isn´t great in a drink. I know nothing about that as I don´t usually enjoy rom based drinks.
