The problem I had with this one is it wasn’t quite a sipper it wasn’t matured enough but at the same time it would have been a shame to mix it. Overall I would recommend it to newer rum drinkers but as you go through more rims you probably won’t have it again.

Tout d'abord, il est très différent du grand classique de la marque. Plus sec, moins sucré, on retrouve tout de même la douceur du caramel. Il est globalement équilibré et, pour le prix, ne manque pas trop de caractère.

I went searching for my favorite Venezuelan rum, which is Ron Pampero Anaversario, but they were all sold out. Ever since I spent one day in Caracas way back in 1991, I first got to try an incredible one called Gran Selecto, and still have the empty bottle. Lo and behold, the fine print on it says Santa Teresa and it is available locally, so that one is next on my list to find!

I had heard so much about the Diplomatico rums from Venezuela and this liquor store had three to choose from. I was suckered in by the fancy bottle and moderate price on this one. The excitement ended when I opened it up when I got home. There is too much of a hint of rubbing alcohol in this one for my tastes. Yes, it can be sipped neat or on the rocks, so it would therefore make a good mixer. There is just not enough to get excited about to justify me buying any more from Diplomatico. Not bad, but not good. It can't seem to make up it's mind.

Rhum sec, avec du caractère mais qui n'a rien d'exceptionnel.

Unlike his 12 years old sibling, Diplomatico Reserva rum was taken from the cask way too early and that is why it is not good for me to drink straight. 55%

Nothing overtly wrong with it. But to my taste, too sweet and lacking in concentration and sophistication. Not a rum I'd ever buy again. Quite well priced though and can see that it would appeal to many.

Nice Price, nice Ron. Smooth and mild at the start. Sip and wait, and wait but then it burns and kills all flavor. Pity.....
