Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva

I find this mid-afternoon colour rum is a balanced, smooth entry in my cabinet. Flavor and smell are similar. A hint of vainilla, maybe a hint of toffee. Flavor is a bit timid, and feels light. Not my favorite but not a bad option either. Luke a vainilla ice cream chances are you will enjoy it, but is, well, vainilla.

The nose is very heavy bourbon vanilla. Too much for my taste. Quite one dimensional.
Taste is better. Vanilla is still there, but accompanied by sweet chocolate raisins.
Pleasant burn, but not quite my cup of tea. Will use it as a mixer.

I have a soft spot for this one even though it is very much on the sweet side. I like it and my wife loves it.

Smooth and subtle.
Putting anything in it would be a crime, drink it neat, no ice. Wonderful!
Decently priced and 2 or 3 times the values of some of the so called premium rums.

Great amber color, smooth and crisp. Great taste easy to sip over rocks. Don't ruin this with any mix!

I had tried a few rums of Venezuela and was not too impressed with them until I happened to purchase a bottle of Diplomatico. I had it on my shelf for a while, and as a friend was having a birthday, I thought that he needed this bottle. We opened it, and out popped a genie, well, of sorts. Definitely a sweet spirit, Venezuela has been redeemed.

Deep, well-rounded sweet tasting, full-bodied, heavy, luxurious RUM!
THIS is how rum is meant to be enjoyed. It has a slightly fruity nose and underlying notes of taste.
Almost lingering on the border to a liqueur in the sensation of its sweetness, but nicely kept within tolerable borders in my opinion.
My highest appraisals for this fantastically well distilled rum. Perfection in a glass!

for ~32$ in my neck of the woods. its great about 8$ more than the reserva. i personally have a sweet tooth and i know the difference between this and the Reserva was the added sugar. so i decided pick this up first.

Excellent sipper. never tried mixing it since it was so good lol. sweettooths rejoice.

buy one when u can!
