Venezuela | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot Still Distilled
Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva rum is distilled from molassis in copper pot stills and then aged in small oak casks for on average 12 years before being bottled.
Produced in Venezuela, which has a rich rum history dating to 1896, the Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva distillery is located on the northern slopes of the Andes mountains.

This is a good value, nice tasting sipping rum that I am sure I will buy again but I feel falls a little short of some of its slightly pricier competitors.
It has a deep colour and is slightly syrupy. The syrup analogy continues through to the taste and feel; ever so slightly sticky, sweet and with flavours of molases and smoke.
It is a tad too rich in flavour for me to be able to enjoy more than a small measure at a time but is undoubtedly a very good rum that, at around £30 a bottle, is one that everyone should try.
Theme: Licorice and cough syrup
Just by looking at the sheer number of Reviews, one thing is obious - Reserva Exlusiva is a household name among the decent, straight rums.
It is also clear that such a product places itself in the middle section when it comes to price and quality.
Every other product so far felt aged in a cask. This one does not. It is a somewhat manufactured taste of licorice an cough syrup. Somewhat sweet, too.
You don`t have to be an expert to enjoy it. It has no biting alcohol taste and is rather complaicent. Nothing complex though, and a great finish can not be expected in this Price range.
Yet, a good product which can very well be served on any occasion.
The 7 is also in reference to the Price Point. Alas, the 8.2 as of writing this is not justified.

Very tasty, good on its own, but try it in a classic daiquiri. Its so good for mixing.

Pokud jste začátečník a chcete se posunout v rumech o level výše, tak doporučuji začít s tímto rumem. V podstatě neznám nikoho, komu by nechutnal :)

In my top 3 rums ever, I simply love this rum, anyone who has tasted this falls in love and is seduced by the flavour. I have to limit how much I take on board as it's dangerously moreish. Everything you would want a rum to taste like and then much more. This is a product that simply cannot be faulted.
One of the first rum's I have ever tasted. Full taste, great , strong and sweet smell, perferct choise. Still my favourite.
This was the second rum I tasted, after I learned to drink rum, and I like it, its a good cheap rum
One of the best rum I tasted yet. Simple taste and prety cheap for the quality.

The 2014 all star. A rhum you have to have tasted.

This is for me the star of 2014, all of a sudden every one knew it, had tasted it and had a bottle of it somewhere.
The succes is deserved as this is a good rhum, very sweet with vanilla notes and nearly no alcohol feeling.
This is the reason of the 8 grade, I feel like it is too sweet, with my friends we call it the "sirop pour la toux", as it is so sugarish that you sometimes feel like sipping some caramel.
But priced at 36€, you get a very good bang for your bucks.
